It seems like with one big hurricane my whole life is going to change! We don't have gas anymore, tons of people are dead, hundreds of thousands more are homeless. The economy is going to go down the drain and no one is going to be able to afford anything anymore :(

I can't wait to start school so I can just focus on my own little world and not have to listen to what seems to be the fall of the world as I know it :guilty:

Is this really what's going to happen? Or am I stressing over nothing? I wish I was old enough for Sherry to make me a stiff drink!

Sounds like SOMEBODY needs a hug...

Our themesong won an MTV Award!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think it would be okay if I'm staying at Pop Century to bring my Wilderness Lodge refillable mug over to beaches and cream...fill it up...and swim in SAB?

;)

you sound like my DH
he says if this country isnt careful we will be in a depression
between the war and this how can this country keep spending money we dont have
were in debt up to our eyeballs
now gas what are oil prices gonna be like this winter
real estate market is insane
where are all these people gonna live and since most had no insurance how will they rebuild

this will be as bad economically as 9/11 was

I feel the same way. :guilty: I am actively posting on the "Shoot the Looters" thread, and I think many of us (me included) want to blame someone. We sound harsh, but at this point, it feels somewhat comforting to blame "bad people"..to blame someone. Nobody wants to focus on the real issues--> Destroyed homes and thousands dead (please don't let it be true). It is all too much to comprehend.

Very, very depressing. I am getting that feeling that I had after 9/11. Ugh. I just feel all doom and gloom. :sad1: :sad1:

Was the economy bad after 9/11? I was 11, so I didn't really know what was going on.

I was in 4th grade, so I don't remember much either. was it that bad? :confused3

OK everybody. Go on over to free4life11 thread and post your favorite joke. I think we all need a little stress buster :goodvibes Then feel free to drop by the Lush ladies lounge for your favorite nightcap :teeth:

Life sucks, and then you die. I can now actually see why people commit suicide.

Yay! I love happy posts like this :goodvibes

twinkles..I see you are only 16 (maybe you are a bit older now, I was looking at your sig)

It's very tough at your age to put it all in perspective. :grouphug: My advice is to STOP watching the news and don't open the threads on here that deal with the disaster. Heck, it's scary and heartbreaking for me and I'm 47.

At this young of an age it's nice to be informed but when it starts to overwhelm you, then you need to back away. My girls are 12, 15 and 17. I know they are upset by what is going on and I know they share some of the same concerns as you. Today I made them go out with their friends and have a good time. Getting back to school will be a good thing. Nothing wrong with wanting things back to normal.

Here are the warning signs of alcohol:
The comsumtpion of this can:
make you believe you really can sing!
tell your frineds over and over you love them!
create pregnancy!
major factor in dancing really badly! ;)

My dad did this to me too, I went out and got a manicure. It was so much fun and I love the way my hands look now, but I felt all guilty at spending $20 to have someone paint my nails. Emma told me not to feel guilty cause I looked awesome and I'm 15, just something about people saying we have to help with money NOW! makes me feel all guilty.

But I am going to look very nice for school tomorrow :goodvibes

American's will rebuild and it will be better and stronger than ever

Remember thats what this country does we help each other, we can't take away the pain but we sure know how to pull together in a time of need

If you are serious about that statement I beg you to get help. I wont go into my own personal details but I know these are the statements that someone who is considering suicide make.
Even for someone to "joke" about it, it screams of desperation.

To the OP. Its tough to put things into perspective even as an adult.
Yes this is a terrible tragedy and yes it will have an affect on us all. Just as 9-11 did. But, just like 9-11, I believe this will help unite our country and people will pitch in to help where they can and we will get through this just as we have the Great Depression and the great wars and 9-11.

America is the Greatest Country on Earth. We are strong, we are resilient, we are capable of anything we set our minds to!

We will make it through this, you will see:)

Don't feel guilty. You're pumping money into the economy. I'm getting a pedicure later this week. We have to live our lives and help where we can.

I have the same feeling.

I think you hit the hammer on the nail (or the head on the hammer, I don't know I am confused). Tensions are high and I think people are just frustarated that they can't help tangibly and we have no one to blame. It really is. These past few days have just been surreal...and then I look outside and see a beautiful, sunny sky. If I had no TV or internet, I may not even know a thing had happened.

Well I'm sitting here feeling guilty for having a melt down because it's my stepdad bring stuff up to me a day before my mom comes up, and I don't want to see him; I want to see her. And that's just one of the MANY things I'm feeling guilty about right now with this whole thing. But as Beth76 said, you're putting money into the economy. Don't feel guilty.
And yes, the economy was kind of crappy after 9/11. The attacks made the recession that had already started worse. This hurricane will affect the economy but, I doubt that it will be quite as extreme as some people predict. Yes, it will cause problems, but these things are a fact of life. Life will go on. Things will recover.
