Okay, I read the stickies and I can't seem to find the info I need.

My friend will be in an ECV because she has something up with her feet and back and the doctor suggests not going to WDW because she can't be on her feet for very long, but will give her a note to get a scooter.

I know lots of the rides are EVC accesible, but Splash Mountain has stairs that both lines (standby and FP) must ascend. So what are we gonna do about Splash Mountain, or any other rides like it?

Splash Mtn has a special way for ECV and Wheelchair guests to enter. Initailly get in the same Fastpass or Standby line with your EVC and when you get to a certain point a CM standing there will open a special roped area for you to drive up to the loading area (it is the disembarking area for regular guests). They will show you where to park your EVC and will allow you and your party to enter from that side without standing in line or dealing with the stairs in line :scared1:

I have done this many times and it works really well. WDW is one of the best places in the world for people who have trouble getting around to visit as they are so good about having special access for those that need it.

For the few rides that your friend cannot bring her EVC in, such as PoTC, they offer free wheelchairs that you can push her down through the line to board the boats on the ride.

Hope this helps....:thumbsup2

and just FYI--she won't need a note from her doctor to get a scooter. Is she planning to rent in the parks or off-site so that she can have it all the time? I'd really recommend the latter--there's lots of walking in WDW even outside of the parks.

we're staying off-site. I think she's just going to rent them in the parks. apparently our condo has bus transportation to the parks?? I'm doubtful of this but they claim it so.

It will help her a lot to rent off site. It is a long walk from the hotel shuttle drop off points to inside of the parks.

Prior poster is right about not needing a note from the doctor.

GAC is not needed unless she has a hidden disability such as hearind and vision. If a person uses an aid such as a scooter then they do not need the GAC.

Check that out as well as the stickied FAQs for this board as there are ride photos and lots of info. All rides are wheelchair acessible. Some require the ECV user to transfer to a wheelchair though. Most allow the guest to get with in a few feet of the ride vehicle.

You need to know for a fact if there is transportation included with the condo rental and what disabled services they will offer. No guessing as you cannot wait until you are at the condo and have to arrange transportation or rent a car.

The secret to doing the parks is full knowledge. That way you have back up plans and know your rights and what is offered. If a ride is down then you can plan your next move instantly instead of standing on the streetcar tracks staring at a map while a draft horse waits for you to move.:lmao:
