I have made up my mind to rent an ECV for WDW. I have never rented one of these before. We will be staying at Fort Wilderness. It seems like I will have no problem getting around the parks. However, I still don't understand how I will get to them from Fort Wilderness. Originally I thought we would be able to take the boat from the Fort to MK. It probably seems foolish, but I am really worried about this. Are there buses that leave FW for the parks? :confused3

Ft. Wilderness Transportation:

To get to Magic Kingdom, take an internal bus or ride your ECV to the boat dock. 99% of the time, you will be able to take your ECV onto the larger boat that goes to Magic Kingdom. However, if you happen to be there one of the few times that the boats can't seem to level up with the dock, then go over to the Settlement Bus Stop and take the bus to Wilderness Lodge (or ride your ECV along the paved trail that goes over to Wilderness Lodge). From there you can take a bus directly to Magic Kingdom.

To get to the Studios, either take an internal bus or ride your ECV to the Settlement Bus Depot, then take a bus to the Studios.

To get to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, or any of the Water Parks, take an internal bus or ride your ECV to the Outpost Bus Stop, then take a bus to any of those locations.

I would just add that, depending on what loop you're in, and how much you enjoy a "roadtrip" it is often quicker and more fun to ride your ECV to the endpoints where the busses pick you up for the other parks than to do the internal bus on/off. I did that last summer, and really enjoyed the trip (during the daylight hours only, obviously!).

Another alternative for Epcot is to take the boat to MK, then catch the monorail to Epcot (probably not faster than the bus, but no backing on the ramp, and lots of fun!). Boats are dependent on weather and water level, but I never had trouble (knock on wood).

Make sure you have a good charge on your ECV. We just returned from a short stay at Ft. Wilderness and transportation was a real challenge. We were in the first cabin loop from the entrance thus the boat launch was over a mile away. To get to the parks you must transfer to two different busses or ride your ECV to the bus depot which then departs directly to the parks. While it's fine to ride your ECV vs. doing the two transfers, what about the people with you who are hiking alongside? It's a longggg walk to get around that campground.---Kathy
