Eurostar to DLH?

I have booked Eurostar for first time for November's trip - no express package thingy. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Does anyone know how we would get from the station to the hotel with all our bags? I don't mind if we have to walk, but would we have to go through the bag checks for the parks? I don't fancy having to open all our cases!

Does anyone have any other useful info on Eurostar? Is it a good way to travel? We have to change at Lille, how does this go?

Thanks :sunny:

The Disneyland Hotel is within very short walking distance of the station. You will not have to go through the park's bag check.

When we went last month the bag check had moved to nearer the Eurostar terminal, so you would have to go through it to get to DLH. We took our cases and bags to the left luggage at the park, and when we got there they asked if we were staying at DLH and we said no so I do not know if what happened next would have been different if we were. They did the standard check of bags, but rucksack and cases were put on the floor and a sniffer dog went round them. We did not have to open those at all - which was a big relief after squeezing all the things we had bought into them they only just shut.

Not sure what happens if you are staying at the DLH but a few weeks when we were there a lady was going through the bag check for the park with a suitcase. She was stopped and asked to open the case for inspection - it seems that her daughter works in the park and she was bringing her a supply of winter clothes - she had arranged to meet her in the park.

Not sure of the outcome as we moved on at this point.

Perhaps if you are staying at DLH they waive the check? When we take our cases in to Guest Storage on our way home the security staff always ask if it's our last day (probably can tell by our glum faces :rotfl: ) It's not that inconvenient, they have always opened all our cases to look but they've never taken anything out. Or is there another entrance to DLH, say a car park entrance for people who drive there?

We've only travelled on the direct Eurostar but I'm sure changing at Lille is easy. I can't get the search facility to work at the moment but I am sure others have travelled that way. We love travelling on the Eurostar, it's such a lovely stress-free way to get there and when it arrives you are actually there at the parks! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I can't see how you could get from the station to the hotel without going through the bag check.

There is a car park entrance as Ware Bears suggested, as that's how we got there before. I've no idea how to access it from the station though. I am going to try emailing them to ask.

Just noticed this thread and thought I'd add my 2 cents:

1) The bag check is after the train station but before the hotel and park, its at the junction between Pleasure Island (sic Disney Village as its apparently now called).

2) We just travelled from Edinburgh to London, London to Lille via Eurostar and Lille to Marne La Valee. If I'm being honest, the trip to London was painless, the wait for the Eurostar wasn't the worst but the one thing that will cause aggro is the wait at Lille between trains. Think we had to wait 1 hour after delays and the train to Marne La Valee was stuffy and exhausting. On the way back we had to wait almost 2 hours for the connection. Those aside, once you're there you're there. It's worse on the way back obviously. Needless to say I'm flying from now on as I hate travel altogether lol!

hi

The direct euro star is much better and quicker. :)

You can check your bags into the disney express luggage thing and have them delivered ? meaning you can go straight to the park.

Thanks for your input, Tom. Can I ask whether the bag checkers made you open all your cases, or did you not stay at the DLH?

As for the hassle factor, anything that stops my DH from having to set foot in a plane is fine by him! Shame the Eurostar doesn't go to Florida! :rotfl:

Unfortunately the direct service is sold out, and I was unable to book a package with my AP discount anyway, so wouldn't have got the Disney Express.
