so today was the day - i checked my bank balance and hurrah off i went to the bank to pay my mummy back all in one go 9she lent us some money when DH lost his job) had a wander round town then it was home to book the holiday :banana:

the first time i tried to book my tickets my card got declined :eek:

turns out as i had drawn out quite a large sum of money then tried to book eurostar tickets it had flagged up as a security risk !!

a quick call to the bank and i was back on the phoen re confirming and giving all my details yay i was going !!

until .............the sales assistant said sorry my screen has locked i have your ref but its not a proper booking ???

she put through my card 3 times but everytime it would not go through to the confirmation screen so she could send me my email

she apologised profusely and said that she would do it again when she was in on monday and that as a special favour to me she would be holding the seats for me and reassured me 100 times over that no money would be debited from my account

i then went on to book my disneyland part of the trip and imagine my shock when the card was declined again !!!

i checked my balance and eurostar had taken nearly 800 ponds from my account !!!!!

to make things worse it is 5 years this weekend since me and hubby offically became an item and normally we wouldnt make a fuss but on our wedding anniversary this January we lost my grandfather so obvisouly cancelled our weekend away

at this rate i wont be going anywhere this weekend as my anniversary money is tied up with eurostar !!!

i was so looking forward to posting to say i had booked but i guess im only provisionally but on the plus side we are going the day after my birthday !!!

the sales colleague suggested i had a glass of wine this evening to calm down which i would have done but i am on a diet adn was saving myself for this weekend :sad1:

Oh my goodness - what a nightmare for you .

Honestly I am hearing more and more of declined cards where the money has still been debited .

Have you managed to speak to Eurostar yet again to inform them? The annoying thing is, even though it's their error you end up waiting days for the money to return back into your bank account! Urgh.

I really feel for you and hope you manage to have a good weekend despite the probs you've had :rolleyes1. At least you can have a glass of wine or two then :flower3:.

Oh dear  not a good day. :sad2: Hope you manage to get it sorted ASAP (any reason why you have to wait until Monday and not tomorrow?) and that you still have a lovely weekend.

The same thing happened to me last month. I tried to book and my card got declined (must be the company name). I called up the card company and while I was on the phone they told me to try again and it got declined again. The customer service rep put me on hold and had me try again....and I got an error message. I got an e-mail immediately saying my card would not be charged and my booking was automatically cancelled. I tried one more time--and it went through.

I checked my back account and that "cancelled" payment had showed up as well as the one that I got a confirmation for on my pending transactions. I decided to wait a few days. I checked often and made sure that the debit didn't move from the "pending" screen to the "processed" screen. After 5 days, the one payment went through and the other disappeared.

Long story short, I would wait a few days. I read their FAQs because I was worried too and it says they will refund duplicate bookings, so you have nothing to worry about and it might clear itself out! :)

Sorry to hear that you have problems. Hopefully it will sort itself out as a PP suggested but it is still not fair that you are the one left waiting for the money to come back.

Really sorry to hear about your problems.

It's likely that the funds are being held in a holding account, you may be able to call your bank and ask them to release them. DH had the same problem last year, he called the who saw it had the same transaction ref and they released it within an hour.

Good luck with getting it rectified :goodvibes

i phoned my bank who gave me the codes for all 3 transactions and said that if eurostar faxed them on headed paper with all my details that they would be able to release the funds back to me

i rang to speak to the lady i have been dealing with and was told she was just finishing with a customer and would ring me straight back - she has my mobile number and my landline number

that was over an hour ago :sad2::dance3:

the closer it gets to the end of the day the more chance i will not be able to go away this weekend

i even got my angry game face on and demanded compensation maybe a free upgrade but i have been told to put it in writing

i understand mistakes happen but this is really bad timing and all the time the money has gone i am being charged as only a certain portion of my overdraft is fee free !

normally i would just sigh but its really got to me probably because of why we are going and the fact that we can (thanks gramps)

Did the woman ring you back?

I hope you managed to do something nice this weekend after all .

Update

the money has been refunded into my account but not until saturday so it meant that we couldnt go on friday and by the time it had cleared saturday half the day was gone

instead we went for lunch and treated the kids to a few treats and then the rest we have put in the fund for disney

a rude email has been sent to eurostar so we will watch this space

I hasten to add that no one phoned me to update me i just had to regularly keep checking my account - not happy but at least tomorrow i can book my disney hotel as long as eurostar confirm my booking !!!!

Pleased to hear that the money is at least back in your account. Sorry that you missed your weekend away though :sad2:.

Good luck on booking your Disney hotel :goodvibes:cool1:

I'm sorry your weekend away was ruined  but the silver lining is that your Disney fund has grown!

Good luck with your DLP booking tomorrow. :wizard:
