Europe hotels for families

Their executive lounge is great!

Is it worth it considering the location? We can get into the lounge (SPG level) if we stay in a normal room that fits 3 there (from what they are telling us when we call) but right now have another (comparably priced) hotel booked that is across from Tivoli Gardens and right by the Stroget. Does the lounge make it worth switching to the more out of the way location of the Marriott? I'm having trouble deciding and would love some input.

The Marriott is right across the street from a bus stop. The bus can provide easy and quick access to Nyhavn, Christainborg Slot, and many other cool places. It's a short walk to Tivoli and the central train station. The walk to Stroget is not too bad. The Marriott is right along a beautiful stretch of the river. The executive lounge offers a free breakfast which was very good and a light dinner in the evening. It also offers a 4-hour long happy hour with complimentary beer and wine. We cashed in points to stay there and we were very happy with our decision.

10 min walk from the Marriott to Tivoli. Part of the reason we picked it.

We've done five trips to Europe as a family of four, including 2 cruise/land combos, and one European chain that we keep coming back to is the Novotel chain. They are part of the Accor brand which includes Mercure, Ibis, Sofitel and a few others, but Novotel is our favourite for families. They have family rooms for four for the same price, or not much more, than double rooms, which can be hard to find in Europe. These rooms are usually a queen sized bed with a sofabed, but usually the sofa has a neat design that folds out as two singles instead of one big bed. This seems to give better support and even though the two beds are only a few inches apart it still helps my kids sleep better to each have their "own" bed.

Another thing we love about the chain is that many of the hotels have absolutely fantastic breakfast buffets. And there's usually a play area in the lobby where the kids can hang out while you check in. We've already booked Novotel hotels in Amsterdam, Ghent, Paris and Dijon for our European trip this summer, and paid less than $150 US per night with breakfast.

It is a bit outside of the excitement of La Rambla, but it was certainly safe and has a few small shops and restaurants close. It was less than 20 minutes to the port and was a short walk from the Metro, which we used everyday (and from the airport). Overall, I would stay there again!

thanks! there are a few i'm looking at...we need kitchen facilities, so that limits the possibilities..

Sharing my find: Just booked AC Hotel Sants by Marriott in Barcelona for our June cruise. Booked their two bedroom Junior Suite for our family of 4 adults for about 200 Euros.

Orbitz has some good prices in Barcelona and you can get 15% off with their promo code.
