I will be attending a retirement luncheon tomorrow for my husband, being given to him by his co-workers. I work for the same company but in a different dept/building.

Would it be okay or would it be strange (since I'm the wife) if I was to bring my camera & take photos of everyone? I suppose other people may take pictures but I'd like to try & make sure I'd be getting everyone, at least in group shots & individuals with my husband.

I went to a retirement luncheon recently & it seemed like the only one from the person's family taking photos was a neice. The people who organized it took alot.

I don't think it would be strange. Then again, there is little relationship between what I think is strange and what most people think is strange. Probably better to wait for someone else to respond.

Not strange at all. My company provides a photographer, but it's fairly large.

However, I'd suggest asking one of his co-workers to take the pictures with your camera so you can enjoy the festivities and be in the shots. They will mean a lot to you.

I do not think it is strange and probably would not care if others did or not. At least make sure someone gets you and DH. My DW gets mad when we go places and no pictures of me! I always consider it good planning on my part!

At a recent retirement party, various members of the retiree's family were taking photos. Using anything from point and shoot camera, cell phones, and a DSLR.

It was not a problem.

I wish I had thought to bring in my camera.....

I hope you took a camera today. ;)

Later,
Dan
