After reading PanamaMike's post I got to thinking. If it is not a TA request but a personnal offer you make. H

How long do you wait before moving on?

I have asked loads of traders - novice to old timers( that means you Nat) and gotten a variety of answers.
Some say 7 days - some say only3 days.

What is you opinion?

If I offer a pin for trade and the person i'm trading with says let me think about it I keep it in my trade book. If another trade comes along and it involves that pin and it is something I want then it is for trade. But untill a trader says okay... The pin is for trade. So to answer your question... Not very long. I should add that that is in person... On the net I wait a few days to make sure they read the emails...

I know the person is "in town" and "checking their email", I think three days is plenty of time to weigh the offer. If no response, I'm ready to move on...

Not counting TA trades, if I make an offer for a particular pin I try to hold it for at least a week. I know that people get sick, don't get a chance to check email, etc. I've only messed up twice and had a pin offered out twice, but I tried to let people know asap so that the issue can be corrected. If I've offered it, I pull it out of my bag until I know it's not wanted or I don't get a response.

For me it depends on the pin, who it is for, and how often I see them. As a student, I can usually only go to the friday night meets at the contempary, so I may not see the person I am trading with for 7 days. Some of my pinpals I have learned to think each trade through very well so a week usually gives them time to do that and still think about the stuff in their non-pin life. Also, a harder pin (for example-a haunted mansion dangle) is going to take longer to trade for because there is inevidable haggling that will occur. I think how long you wait to trade is a decision that is based upon your trading experiences and what you have seen happen.
Anyhoo
Good luck trading,

my response. when I say 3 days, I mean three days without ANY response whatsoever...a simple, "I'm thinking and will get back to you on Friday", or what ever would grant more time in the "offer"
Crystal's points are well taken
