ESTA/Visa

No. The ESTA replaced the VWP.
If you have a Visa you are good to go.

I may be completely wrong but dont you still have to fill out both the esta and waiver forms at the minute?

I think that eventually you will only need to complete the esta but at the moment both still need to be completed.

I have not flown since January so it may have changed in the last couple of months tho.

eeyorefanuk, there is a sticky thread about ESTA at the top of the page. All you need to know is there.

You're right. :thumbsup2

Sorry I didn't put it the right way.:upsidedow
What I ment was that if you have a visa you do not need to esta as it the same as wvp.

Do you actually have a Visa for the US, or are you just visiting the US on holiday? If it is the latter, you can travel under the 'Visa Waiver Programme' if you are a UK citizen. You used to fill in a form on the flight which gets handed in when you land, and it gives you right to stay in the US for 6 months. Now ESTA is in place, you have to fill in the form before you fly and get 'passed' for travel. However, there is an overlap, and you still have to fill in the green Visa Waiver form and hand in when you land.

Hope this makes sense!

So does this mean that I fill in the ESTA on line, but the travel agents will do the visa for me???

Not everyone who travels to the US needs a visa. Normally you would only need one if you had been a bit naughty and been in prison, or arrested for a crime (these are only a couple of the things, you would need to visit the site for a comprehensive list)

The ESTA is done on line (and every traveller must complete one) and you will get an authorisation number to say that you are allowed to travel to the US - however it doesn't guarantee entrance once you get there.
At the moment you also need to complete the green visa waiver form (again it is one per traveller) that they give you at check in or on the plane. Again this doesn't guarantee entrance - it is just a form that you fill in to confirm that you don't need a visa.
