I like to roll my clothes instead of folding them. They don't wrinkle as much, and take up less space.

And I'm a compulsive over-packer. I try to take half of the amount of clothes that I would normally take -- and then do laundry mid-week during my trip. Saves tons of space!

What I am about to say, you may think I am nuts, but, really I am not I pack by the day...starting with the last day first Yep, you read that right..I too do laundry mid week, but, I find that if I pack that way then I keep all my daily clothes together. I put my undies, socks in a baggie with the outfit I will wear that day

When I pack for my son I put a pair of shorts, a shirts, socks and underwear in a gallon ziplock, press the air out and zip it closed. Saves space and when we are there he just opens his drawer and pulls out a bag.

If you pack more than one bag that you will be checking, make sure each person in your party has a change of clothes in each bag. I usually pack DH and I in one bag, my son in the other, but always cross pack outfits. If one suitcase gets lost, you will still have a fresh change of clothes until your other bag catches up with you.

I refuse to do laundry on vacation, but I do pack by the day like you. I love my packing folders and can't imagine packing without them. I put complete outfits on hangers, arrange them in the opposite order I plan to wear them and then fold them compactly into the packing folder, with an extra outfit on bottom, the eighth day's outfit next, seventh day's outfit next, and so on, with the first day's outfit winding up on top. If all I'm packing is shorts and tshirts, I can usually squish 9 days worth of clothes into one 18" packing folder. They're folded neatly, but squished flat and secured with the velcro flaps. Those flaps just seem to keep stretching and the packing folders can hold a ton of clothes. As long as the velcro flaps will close, they'll hold. I then roll my underwear, socks, and bras and place them in two small packing cubes. If the weather is going to be cool, I have to use two packing folders, but still pack my clothes in the opposite order I plan on wearing them. For hoodies or fleeces, I roll them and use zip lock bags, squishing all the air out of them, to make them as flat as possible.

I find it harder to do all of these things, especially the ziploc baggies because we go in the winter. Yes, we usually end up wearing shorts, but I have to have layering options and jackets and all kinds of other things. But, I get to save room because I'm not packing misting fans and other hot weather items.

Not crazy... I do this too! DBF thinks I am nuts... it works for me though, and I never run out of undies!

I also roll my clothes too. And put socks inside the shoes I have packed.

I have always thought that one of the most practical items for the suitcase is a couple boxes of the kids favorite cereal. you can buy milk (and plastic bowls/spoons) anywhere near your hotel an dthen you are set for breakfast.

The other option is to go to a restaurant (and wouldn't our money be better spent on souveniers, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.?)

Eating in the room allows you to get to the park earlier too.

I travel a lot for work and I recently started rolling my clothes. I put them in those large compression bags and roll them up squeezing out all the air. Works really well and saves quite a bit of space. The bags were pretty cheap. I believe I bought a four pack for around $5 at Wal-Mart.

I moved once and was able to fit my whole wardrobe in two suitcases due to rolling. NO wrinkles!

I can't stress this enough.

HOWEVER now with airline charges on baggage I am thinking about doing the vaccume compressed bags for our WDW in 10 days. I'm packing for 4 of us.

Any thoughts?

I've been debating doing this for our upcoming trip as well. But then how do you compress them for the trip home?

Rolling is a MUST.

I use the compression bags. They do help save some space. I don't know if I would call it a tremendous amount of space, though anything helps.

We travel alot and I have a few favorite things. We travel with 4 of us ( my husband and I and 2 teen boys) and only take hand luggage. We generally go for 8-10 days. We have been to disney so much I think I have it down to a science.

My favorite things:

1) Packing cubes from target. I used to use ziploc bags but I LOVE THESE!!!
2) all in one purex laundry sheets. We only take 4 outfits each and do laundry.

3) travel ziploc baggies from the travel size section of the drug departments. While not esential they just make things easier. I think they are 5 for $1>

4) disposible rain capes rather than a rain jacket as they can lay flat in the case.

I have my change collected by the time it's time to do laundry pulling quarters out of change as the week goes by.

My essential packing tip - spare zip loc bags of all sizes. I always have a bunch for sorting, wet clothes, leaking bottles. A must for us!

For those concerned about weight restrictions at the airport, get a luggage scale. I'm a bad over-packer and always weigh my suitcase and find I need to take some things out! It's small enough to bring with you for the trip home. I got mine at AAA and have found it to be pretty accurate. Mine also has a tape measure for measuring the size of the suitcase because mine is always busting at the seams You can find them in any travel section of places like Dick's and Sears, etc.

I love doing WDW laundry, too. I save quarters prior to the trip, and put them in a large M&M's minis tube. They fit perfectly and I store them with my travel laundry detergent. You can also go to the Dis Creative DISigns board and make cute little covers for the M&M tubes. I have one that has Chip&Dale on it that says "Laundry Money".
