I see that ESPN Club on the boardwalk is on the DDP, but it doesn't seem like you can make ADR's. Is this place usually very crowded? For those of you that have gone, how long of a dinner wait, on average, have you found here? I was thinking of going here on a weekday night in August at around 5-6pm but I'm nervous about going to any place without ADR's!!!

TIA:)

It is true that you can't make ADR.

We have gone there several times. We have always had to wait, but never really long.

During the wait time, we have always walked around in front of the restraunt. It is such a pretty view on the water. There are always things going on too. Last time there was a magician and families writing 3 seated bikes.

I love the atomosphere, so if you have to wait, it at least has things to look at. We had a 4 and 6 year old last year when we went, and they did really well!

Love the food there too ... it is very loud inside though.

They have the fun light up CARS for the straws too. The waitress told my little one if he ate all his food she had a treat for him ... and that was what she brough him. He was thrilled!

We've been there a few times and I think the trick is to make sure there aren't major sporting events going on when you plan to go. We were at the BWV during the playoffs a few weeks ago and the line was huge on sunday afternoon, but usually it seems pretty reasonable. Maybe i'm wrong, it's been a few years since we've been there, but I remember waiting in line to get in the restaurant to be seated. When a table opens up the, the hostess would seat the next party in line, instead of checking in and getting a buzzer. I just remember waiting in line outside the restaurant for 15-20 minutes then being seated once we were inside, maybe things have changed. It would be nice if you could walk around the BW area while you're waiting.

Thanks for your replies! A 20 minute wait wouldn't bother my family, we are used to much worse around here. It seems like a fun atmosphere. I plan on booking 5 adrs when my window opens, so winging one shouldn't be as scary as I'm anticipating. I'm just so used to the ADR game.

At the end of August, I'm trying to think of crazy sports things that will be going on. Preseason football? I should stay away from Sunday I guess. The US Open? Although, I can't imagine there being too many tennis fanatics. All good things to think about though!:goodvibes

It should probably be baseball mainly, and even then, it'd be regular season games. It shouldn't be a big deal then.

At that time it should not be too long of a wait. The food is typical bar food, wings, chicken strips, chili cheese fries, burgers and sandwiches. We always get a good meal here, but we have been hit or miss on the service. The other problem is that sometimes you can be crowded at their tables. They seem to be a bit small. The higher tables seem to be roomier.

That looks like a time when you would have no trouble walking in to get a table. DH and I eat here almost every trip and we have never had to wait long. We do tend to go early in the evening (like 5:00 ish).

We went to ESPN Zone mid August 2009 at 5pm. We did not have a wait. There was a bit of a wait when we left but not too bad. The earlier you arrive the better.

We went several nights last may during hockey playoffs. There was a wait to be seated in the dining area- but we ate in the bar area every night. I believe the bar area is seat yourself. There are tons of flat screens and there are booths with TV's tat seat 4-5 people. THey will put on a specific game at your table if you request. THe bar area has waiter/waitress service and it is on the DDP. They also do live trivia every night with prizes. I cant remember the exact time- possibly from 5-6pm. My DS 9 at the time had a blast. THe only thing with the trivia is you will have a better chance at winning if you have a phone with internet access. We didnt, so it took my DS forever to win because we were competing against grown me who were googling the answers. He finally won a cool tee shirt and an ESPN glass. Also it is family friendly- even in the bar area. I believe the line to sit at the bar is on the right, the lie on the left is for the dining too and is usually way longer. ope that helps, we are a big sports family and had a great time there. We stayed at the Beach Club so it was very easy to walk there every night.
