Hello Disboardians,

I have heard in another board that the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk may reopen on November 1st??? This is per what Yelp says on their ESPN Club review page (which does not have good reviews but I'd like to disagree).

Does anyone have any special intel on this matter?

For those that may not be aware. November 1st is a NFL Sunday too.

I was at Disney earlier this month and was told by one Cast Member that it was definitely not reopening and another that it wasn't looking good for it to reopen. Not sure how reliable that information is, but it definitely left my family hugely disappointed as we have spent more times than we can count there to watch all kinds of sports games at different times of the year. It was a regular stop for us. I don't have a good feeling about it reopening, but I keep hoping that what I heard will end up being wrong.

Like never reopening indefinitely? Or, just not reopening for the foreseeable future?

I know some of these restaurants are struggling. However, say like 2-3 years down the line that will be empty space that has everything ready for Disney to either reopen what once was or reopen as something new. I think that will be the same for a lot of these restaurants that are not open at the moment.

The problem with ESPN Club is that they need to figure out how to manage crowds for big games especially College Football Saturdays and NFL Sundays.

I sure hope that opening date happens. We returned on 10/16/20 from a 10 day trip (BCV) and really missed ESPN along with so many others, I'm talking about you my go to food friend--Picabu. The Boardwalk Pizza window wasn't much of a QS alternative and the YC Market & BC Market had little to offer. With no park hopping, ESPN would have been a welcome addition to a desolate food area.

Based on what I was told, it would not ever be reopening. Again, I hope this isn't true as I totally agree that other options are needed right now in that area and for us, a sports restaurant/bar would be the most desired option. It has been our 'go to' for many years for watching our favorite teams, including VIP seating for the college football playoffs last December. While we prefer not to leave the Disney 'bubble', if it doesn't reopen, this will definitely cause us to Uber to non-Disney locations when we haven't really done much of that in the past.

If you go to Dining on the app or website it shows hours open starting November 1st.

Checking some other places it looks like there is no opening date for ESPN Club through at least 1/2/21. Those dates on the Disney website have appeared a few times since the closure and reopening, but it didn‘t reopen on the previous iteration of the dates. I really don’t think the 11/1 date is going to happen, and I’m bummed because I check in 11/2.

I sure hope so....I want them to take any crowds that might venture over to the two best places to watch sports on property (IMO), Geyser Point and City Works.

Seriously though, as we head deeper into fall with bigger CFB games, NFL playoffs, Thanksgiving Day games, etc this would be a welcome return.
