ESPN club appropriate for kids? And worth a quick visit?

:goodvibes My 7 year-old is a sports fanatic and I know he'd love a glimpse inside the ESPN club, from it's description I've read. But - is it a place suitable for kids? (I realize they serve alcohol & that doesn't bother me). Also - do they serve something like milkshakes or dessert only so that we could pop in for the atmosphere, but not spend a ton of $$? Thanks!

Kids are fine there. If you ask for the main dining room, you will be away from the bar.

We LOVE ESPN (and we are not even huge sprts fans or anything...I can only imagine how a true sports fan would feel there!)

We never wait for a regualr table, we grab a seat in the lounge area (plenty of kids around.) the booths in there have TVs in the wall, which DD thinks is cool. The menu is basically apps and sandwiches...but we really enjoyed everything we have ordered here.

I am sure you could order a dessert...or maybe an app or two and then dessert? If the place is crowded, I always feel bad taking up a table and just ordering a dessert, so I never do. But it *is* a casual place, and I am sure many people come in for a beer or two and leave, so I can't see why just ordering a dessert or milkshakes would be a problem!

have fun!

ESPN is one of our regular spots - and I am not a sports person at all!

The menu is good but not nearly as great as it used to be.

The entire restaurant is very kids friendly. If you seat yourself in the bar area (which really since there is no longer no smoking does not even seem like a bar area) you can get a booth along the walls and they have a game (I think its Cars) that they will bring to you for the tv at your booth.

Oh and yes milkshakes there are very good!

Be sure and use the restroom too!

Hi there. We go every trip with our kids. They love it. We have always sat in the main dining room. We even watched the entire Steeler game on our last trip in there. It was definitely more crowded but still kid appropriate (no rowdy fans or anything that I remember). And as previously mentioned make sure to check out the restrooms!

Okay - we're definitely going to fit it in. But, I have no idea how to get there. What's the quickest way if we're at Pop? I seem to remember reading you can walk there from Epcot. Is that right?

You can walk there from Epcot through the International gateway exit. We usually go there from MGM by taking the boat to the Boardwalk.

ESPN bar is one of my favourite places at WDW. Everything everyone has said so far is correct, but a couple of other things may be of interest.

i) You can play PS2 for free in the small TV's in the booths (used to be a $10 deposit)
ii) All the food is reasonably priced compared to average Disney prices. Burgers, chicken wings, milkshakes ..its perfect child food!
iii) There's an arcade right next door so even if DS get's bored - chuck him a load of quarters and he will still be happy!
:cool1:

Might be a nice break from summer heat at Epcot!

About how long walk from International Gateway??

Many thx....;)

We have been with our two small kids twice....We enjoyed it both times...I like that the kids can be loud and no one can hear them...Get a booth if you can because the tables are small and too close together...We like the booths by the bar....Just know going in that the place is very loud...The food is nothing fancy but is good.

I think it smells too bar like (smoke and beer) for me to enjoy it or have my kids enjoy it. But its a smell thing, not a inappropriateness of content thing.

Smoking is prohibited at bars/restaurants?

Perhaps you visited when it was permitted???????

It did not smell like smoke or beer when we went...But I think that is because smoking is not allowed and I don't know why it would smell of beer....I would never take our children to a smoking environment or a place where beer was pouring out all over the place....We did not have that experience either time :)

ESPN club is a must do for us every trip. each time i have always seen families with chldren of various ages and they didnt seem out of place.

as was mentioned in earlier posts there are TV's all over the place, smaller ones in your booth and you can get video game controllers, i believe it is playstaion, to keep them occupied.

it is an easy walk from the international gateway, about 10 minutes or so. well maybe a bit longer in the summer heat.

good place for kids and parents alike.

We found the prices affordable and it to be very family friendly. The kids will get a bang out of seeing the lcd tvs in the bathrooms if nothing else.:happytv:
