Escape Wedding in 2010 - Advice needed

WE ARE LOOKING AT DOING THE SAME AS B2B 2008, have everything before the meal so they photos and video will be cheaper.

I was under the impression that if you have a reception at uk in epcot its $100 min spend per person but i dont think the cake is included in that.

$19:50 is the min spend you have to spend on a dessert party.

disney will help you stick to budget, we had our planning session and we said we dont want to go over the min spend. I think you can have as little as you want or as much as you want. disney seem really good at working to your budget. Several brides have done a really nice wedding to the $10k min spend

if you do a wishes wedding the cake cutting is not included you only get that included with the escape packages. With the wishes you get a proper reception like you would here, a meal etc

I have sent you a mail, hopefully it will help with some of your questions :)

Hello to you all and congratulations to you all!

Ok we had originally planned to get married at WP based on escape package, however now undecided as to whether to go for yacht club with wishes package (as venue cheaper). i dont know much about this venue though... is this on a beach overlooking the castle? as that would be magical if we could do that.

Hi Nicola. If you are on about the gazeebo at the Yacht club it is surrounded by the hotel rooms at the Yacht club. It is a really nice venue but we didn't like the surrounding room.

Sunset Point at the Polynesian is on a jutting out piece above the beach and has the castle in the background but you would have a problem here due to the number allowed. I think it is 10 maximum whcih includes you and the groom.

You can get married on the beach at the side of the Wedding Pavillion which might be another option if you want the beach and castle. It is the same price as the wedding pavillion to hire as they use the WP as a back up if it rains. There was a thread on this a little while back - I;m sure pinktink818 was talking about it.

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all of your help (and thanks B2B2008 for your email, it was really helpful)

However after a very draining day of discussing all the options with my in-laws to be i am still none the wiser and currently feel like burying my head in a bucket of chocolate :rotfl:

i think we will prob go with the escape package... B2B did you say you can wear your dress at the resorts but not in the parks unless escorted through backdoor?

I think this may be the way to go... either charter the coach and have our meal at UK and then have that followed by the DP and fireworks OR maybe have a meal at the GF cafe and then still charter the coach to take us into epcot for DP and fireworks.

I hope this is something we can do... i want to phone them to ask but my fiance thinks im insane as we can ask someone when we get out there in sept but i really dont think i can wait that long.

All i know right now is that my head hurts and im sure you're all sick of my indecisiveness lol

If any of you know if there is an area within the GF cafe that can be sectioned off for a private party that would be really helpful (maybe the outside space or something?)

Thanks for your help again

I think that is the case but the only park I think you can go in through the 'backdoor' is Epcot. Perhaps someone else can confirm this for us.

Hi, my names sinead and Im from doncaster, In october, I'll be bookng our wedidng for 2010. I have spoken with the disney cruise wedidng team and you can have more than 12 guests, you just pay for extra cake and champage. Problem is, I was geering more towards the cruise as it is cheaper for me and my partner, but it is going to cost guests about an extra £3-400 per person to go on a 3 night cruise (this is on top of thier hoiday to florida!). Becuase of the expense on thier part, I am now intersted in the escape packege, but not sure if I can keep guests under 18 as there are aout 7 kids. I think im just as confused as you are, and wish I cold sit down with an adisor and talk to them about the most cost effective yet magical option. The whole idea of going abroad is becuae we dont want to shell out 15 grand for a wedding in UK. I think I need to look into the normal wedding packages with the minimum expediture of $10,000 but im just not sure how possible it is to stay in this budget if you have 20 or so guests., any ideas anyone!? what can I get for 20 guests and $10,000? have you come to a decision yet? thanks :-)

Hi B2B 2008, i loved your PJ btw... it brought a tear to my eye as i know what you mean about feeling guilty about what you want.

I am mega confused as you can probably tell.

I am only assuming as i cant do anything else at this stage so if i am wrong please make my day and tell me i am wrong lol

I was thinking that the UK venue would be our evening reception meal and fireworks, however because it said min spend for reception is $19.50 plus $12.50 for fireworks plus taxes, i am thinking that we would not be able to reach the $100 p/p min spend as this is too cheap.

Are you saying that the $19.50 is only for a dessert party and an actual meal would be more than that? If so then this could work.

You mentioned the cake cutting ceremony at white hall at GF. Is that included with the ceremony cost? or is that extra? if so is that something i should have? well i do want a cake cutting ceremony but I just have no idea now how the day should go and i cant afford to go over budget.

Hi Sinead,

Congratulations to you from another 2010 disney bride! :cool1:

I have changed many of my plans since i made this post.

I am now having a wishes wedding as opposed to an escape one. We will have 15 guests and the very helpful people on here have advised me that it is ok to be under the 20 guest min but there is a $50 fee for this, fine by me lol.

We are planning our wedding to be at the wedding pavillion, followed by our reception at UK in epcot and will also have an illumination dessert party there to finish off our evening in style!

I have been onto the wishbook on www.disneyweddings.com and although ive heard the prices are a little out of date, it gives you a rough estimate as to whether you can meet the minimums and what is included to allow you to meet the minimums.

If you havent done that yet then i would recommend it, you can do one for wishes and escape so you can see what the best option would be plus it's fun lol

So when in 2010 are you looking at getting married? I have also moved my date to May 2010 and if you have a wishes wedding you can be pencilled in 18 months prior so i will be calling Disney in November to be pencilled in... we are out in Florida at the end of September and i called them to try and book a site visit but because we wont be at the 18 month mark by the time we go for our hols they wont show me around... they have said i am welcome to visit the grounds myself so that is what i am going to do.

Let us know how your plans are coming along!

I didn't realise you could actually have a meal in Epcot as well, I thought they only did the dessert parties - that could be an option for us but I suspect that as we're an Escape wedding they won't let us do a meal too....

Hi Meryll,

Yeah i think they do only allow wishes brides to do this (well to be within epcot in the dress etc) which is another reason why we decided to change to wishes as my DF and i had our hearts set on that type of reception.

I can still wear my dress to our Epcot dessert party though as an Escape bride, right? Can anyone confirm this?

i was told as an escape bride i couldnt, as once youve had the ceremony and cake cutting you're no longer paying disney to assist you with your day so dress wearing inside the park was not an option, due to health and safety etc.

as far as i understand it wishes brides can do this but they have to pay to charter themselves and their guests on a coach which will take them into epcot via the back door, so as not to disrupt normal visitors.

or i think lurkyloo was able to walk to the international gateway where she was met by an employee who then escorted them in but i think that would have cost some additional $'s too

i dont think any brides can do anything inside the parks within their wedding attire without paying for the privillege and being escorted but i could be wrong in that?

have you booked your DP yet? Again i didnt think escape brides could as i thought those events had to be booked directly through disney wedding planners and with escape packages they will only book your ceremony but again i could be oh so wrong in that as i havent booked anything yet. (it does sound wrong as im typing it as surely anyone can have a DP if theyre willing to pay for one... but in wedding attire? really dont know... can see disney saying no to that unless you're paying out the wishes minimum spend)

please someone correct me if im wrong as i dont want to misadvise anyone, that's just how i see it.

Escape brides can have a DP and wear there wedding attire!:thumbsup2 Or at least that was the rules about 2 days ago when my planner emailed me the cost & details

oh well that's excellent news then!

do you have to charter a bus to enter through the back door?
