Hi all i have posted a few times before about a disney wedding, but now i think me and my fiancee debbie will have an escape wedding with 18 guests coming.
We our going to book direct thru disney but cant do this till april as thats a year before we want to get married.
We want to have the wedding pavillion as are place to get married then have a reception at the holiday inn international, for a meal, drinks and disco.
Now i know people will say why dont you have ur reception on disney property but with costs we think this is best for us.
the few questions i have are about our wedding package really.
1. wedding cake? it says about a cake and chapagne toast is this just a small free cake and we should buy a cake over there for are reception party?
2 photographer? we get a photographer and 20 photos. Would it be better to hire another photographer also to take more pictures and have at the reception or should we just take are own pics and be done with it?
3 Is it easy to hire a person to video the wedding and part and are they allowed into the wedding if not employed by disney?
4 Do we need to get marrige license over in florida when we get there?
5 It says we get annual passes as part of the package does this allow us into all the disney parks while we are there?
6 Is there anything else we have to pay out for seperate to the package cost?
Think that is all for now hope someone can be off help thanks very much.

hiya
hope i can help:
1) the cake is a proper 2 tier wedding cake. you can get it boxed up to take offsite for your other reception if you want. if you have 18 guests you'll need to buy more drinks but the cake feeds about 50
2) the photographer. you can just have the disney photographer, they take more than 20 photos but you only get 20 of them. you can upgrade the package to include more photos or you can hire an outside photgrapher.
3) you can hire disney to do videography or you can hire an outside vendor.
4) you can get the license over there, it is possible to get it via mail but its quick and easy to get it in person
5) annual passes let you in to all 4 parks, activated when you get there. you can upgrade it at a price to include water parks/disney quest etc..
6) you can add extras to the package or you can leave it as it is

if youve got any other questions feel free to ask

hi karen thanks for the quick reply.
I wasnt sure if we had to pay for a priest or something else i cant think of the name of it now, but its like a priest (sorry i know that sounds stupid).

Also if more than 18 decided to turn up, now i know they couldnt get into the church but could they wait inside the grand floridian to see us go in and come out of the wedding chappel?.

karen,

were you able to upgrade your ap's to include the water parks? others are having trouble doing this? i would really like my ap's to cover everything...

hiya macca
oops i forgot you have to pay for the officiant, i didnt have to back in 2005, but you do now.
think they wont allow more than 18 into the wedding itself but i dont see how they can stop extras standing outside

officiant was the word i was looking for lol, Do i need to hire one and if so roughly how much do these cost and is their diffrent types of religion, as im catholic and my fiancee isnt, Im not to bothered if i dont have a catholic weddding thanks.

lol beat me to it karen thanks again for your help i will look in to that part of hiring 1 thank you.

hiya disneydiva
i didnt get the annual passes back in 2005 but, i heard you could upgrade the passes. not sure if you can or not for definate, but sure someone will come along soon who can clarify

i think the officiants run about $150 ish, not sure for defiante. you can get non denominational officiants, we had one cos neither are us are religious.
think you cant get a catholic priest to do a catholic wedding, something about the pavilion not being recognised by the church as a proper church (if that makes any sense!!)

Ok thanks aloot for all your help, im sure i will bother you again soon with more questions. Thanks again.

Hi! :wave2:

I can see most of your questions have already been answered...but I wanted to add a few things.

You mention going off-site for your reception. I think that's actually a pretty good idea...you might save some money that way! But there are a couple of caveats.

With the cake, you may want to talk to the folks at the reception location. While you can take the "leftover" cake from your Disney wedding, many locations will not allow you to bring "outside" food from another location. Just something you might want to clear with the folks at Holiday Inn (or wherever you plan to have your reception).

If you decide to use Disney for your photography you can pre-purchase your proofs to get more than just the 20 pics. This way you will have a copy of all your photos. With Disney, the hi-res CD of all your photos (and the copyright) is NOT included in the photography packages. The hi-res CD costs about $1000, but it's about half that if you wait three years. Many brides here are anxious to get their photos and own the copyright much sooner than that and that is one reason they elect to use outside photographers.

In addition, again if you go "off-site" for your reception, you will have to hire an outside photographer for pics there. The Disney photographers/videographers will not go offsite for receptions.

I'm not trying to discourage you from using Disney (I used them and was very happy with the results)...I just wanted you to be aware of the limitations. There are many qualified photographers in the Orlando area that are familiar with Disney weddings and Disney has no problem allowing them access to any ceremony location that is not inside one of the theme parks.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a "heads up".

karen,

were you able to upgrade your ap's to include the water parks? others are having trouble doing this? i would really like my ap's to cover everything...

Wedding APs have a exchange value of 288 dollars so to upgrade to a PAP would be around 300 dollars for that upgrade.

It was going to cost me 200 dollars to upgrade to a Florida Resident PAP.

I just did this as of 10/15.

Hiwaygal
Thanks for the heads up about the cake idea i will email the hotel when im sorting out details to inquire as with the package we are getting through the holiday inn they supply a wedding cake aswell. 2 wedding cakes great fun.

On the subject of the photographer yeah i think we will hire 1 to come and do all the photos as 1 i think.

Thanks for all your help. Im sure there will be loads more questions needed to be asked as i go along.

As far as I know in order to upgrade your Ap's you need to pay a BIG amount because the Ap's you get with the package are "special" for DFTW which appear at a $0.00 amount. However I do believe that the Ap's include all four park admission and that's is all.

Also as far as having a catholic wedding ceremony it will be a no go because the catholic church will not recognize the wedding unless held in a catholic church and since the WP is non-dinominational a catholic priest will not marry you there. However there is a wedding officiant listed on DFTW wedsite who does offer catholic service without mass...whatever that includes I am not sure.

Hope this was helpful...Congrats and GOOD LUCK! Best Wishes :flower3:

Several officiants can do the Catholic wedding outside of mass, which is just a Catholic wedding ceremony without the Eucharist. It's the same ceremony that would be used in the Catholic church if one person is Catholic and the other isn't.

to karentan

hi, i see your from our neck of the woods!! we are thinking of a wedding in florida in the next couple of years, we went over there last year and had a look around the wedding pavilion, very nice, i've been looking on the website and i think the one to go for is the escape, we were just wondering if you can add a reception on to it as if you do the wishes package you nedd to spend 10k and we will only have 18 people to the wedding!! i cant get much over 6k on the wish book!! Also do you know if you can use your stay at the disney hotels towards the 10k min? if so we would reach it as we will prob stay at he floridian for 2 weeks.

I'm in essex too!! We are getting married on sept 2nd this year!

We are only have around 25-30 and are having a custom wedding, there is so much you can choose from and the wishbook is not the correct prices as they have all gone up and not yet updated the wish book

Hi, I don't mean to discredit you but I don't think you can do this. :flower3: In my contract it states that the cake, with the exception of the "anniversary layer" can only be served by Disney personnel. Meaning, it can be taken to a Disney restaurant but that you can't remove it from my understanding.

I think it's a silly thing because if I paid for it - why can't I box up the leftovers and take it with me? Same thing that bugs me with the Illuminations Dessert Party. I guess it's some silly legality thing. :headache:
