Bluebayou I hope you are feeling better today.

Slo I hope you have a nice day gettings things sorted. We won't get the full report for 4 weeks at school, but we know the outline points already. We won't be having any visits for 6 - 8 months now, and then that will be 1 person for 1 day. Then a year from now we will have another 2 day inspection with 3 inspectors. After that we are not sure yet.

Everyone else :yay:

So far today I have taken the cats to the vets for their flea and worming injections, that cost $250!! But because it is preventative medication it can't be covered by insurance. Oh well!! For the rest of the day I need to do house work. I haven't done any all week with all the school stuff going on!

Have a nice weekend all!!

SLO: It's not early, I only sleep about 4 hours a night no matter what i do, I have been up since 5 am today. Wife worked all night so I get to take DD5 to dance class today and tonight we go to the DVC event in Rochester, woohoo.

DanaUK and Slo - I am feeling much better today. Thanks for your concern.

I am trying not to get too excited about the possibility of a trip to WDW - but it really sounds like my husband is interested in going. I think he feels that we only have a small window before the girls are at an age where they don't want to hang out with mom and dad.

Off to read trip reports...

SeeWhat - Good for you, for pursuing your religious ambitions!!! I converted from Lutheran to Catholic before I got married, and my dad wasn't happy (and those religions are pretty closely related). How were your parents when you converted? Were they supportive or against what you were doing?

Actually my mom was very supportive. I don't speak with my dad because he's very abusive so he's not in the picture. But I was terrified to talk to my mom, sister, and friends about it. I didn't have anything to worry about! I can't say a few of them weren't initially a little shocked but I think they were more curious. I don't think it was a huge deal because Christianity is based on Judaism and it's something they know at least a little about because it's a part of their religion. But I felt really strongly about my decision so they supported me :goodvibes

I had it easy, a lot of people lose their family. I'm sure that would be the case with my dad but he's not on my radar. I've never been happier though  Lutheran to Catholic is a pretty big change to. My sister and I were raised sort of non-denominational (I think maybe Evangelical, not sure) and I think she might convert to Catholocism :thumbsup2

I wanted to be the first one to say good morning to all, I should have posted much earlier since i have been up since 5am but I finally got on the computer now. It is very cold here and they are calling for snow all week, yeah. Hope everyone has a good day today, see ya later.

Morning Taglikins! Beautiful day here today. I'm meeting my friend from 5th grade for lunch today, and I'm thinking we need to find a place with patio dining!

Got a lot of errands done yesterday and squeezed in a nap too. However...the house still needs cleaniing...:rolleyes1

morning...

cold here too... eric is going pole vaulting so he is up and ready to go.. I am making breakfast and then gonna clean and laundry..

I was SO nice to sleep in this morning:goodvibes
Sleep was intereuppted though with Kevin getting a call at 5:30am for a house fire. So I laid in bed listening to everything that was going on for awhile. It ended up being a shed on fire, so I was glad about that. I always feel so bad for whoever has a house fire - I just couldn't imagine going through that. A shed, and it's contents, are so much easier to replace, than a house and your memories inside it.

I got alot of my chores done yesterday, so that was good. Today I'm taking the girls out for pancakes at IHOP, and then we are heading to the mall. We may even make a stop at American Sales to go walk around there Christmas trees - I love doing that!!!!! Then I need to come home and finish Katie's room. I LOVE the new paint job, and she does too. Her room went from bright teal/turquoise on the bottom, and a bright light purple/lavender on top with a Winner the Pooh border between. Now it is bright dark hot pink on bottom, and a darker/brighter pink on top, and a solid white border is going between them. The theme of her room is Dora the Explorer - she loves Dora!!!! I was so against it at first, but then I thought I need her to be her, so I gave in. This is also her Christmas present, so this is another reason why I caved. It really is going to look great when it's done!!!!:thumbsup2

Well, I need to go jump in the shower and get the girls up - I'm hungry for my pancakes :teeth:
Have a good day everyone!!!

Good morning everyone.

I just posted this on the community board to get some feedback. This is what I am dealing with this weekend.
-------------------------------------------
My DD8 wants her ears pierced so badly, but she is very, very scared. This year's flu shot was okay - but last year it took 3 adults to hold her down for her scheduled vaccines.

We went to one of the mall places yesterday. Her 5 year old sister got into the chair and got it done very quickly. Looked very scared and needed mom and dad to hold her hands - but didn't even cry. They even messed up on her a little. They were supposed to do two ears at once - and one of the girls just didn't go - so she got one ear and then about a minute later the second. She hung in like a little trooper.

The whole time my DD5 was in the chair looking scared I kept saying - are you sure you want this and you don't have to do it. To be honest - I was hoping my DD5 would chicken out and we would not have to be dealing with the mess of very disappointed DD8. Five seems just a tad young for me to have pierced ears (I was in 3rd grade). We never would have considered getting the younger one's done if we were not going for the older one.

My oldest woke up today wanting to try again. Any suggestions? I don't think she is ready. We don't even spend much time trying to talk our kids into Disney rides they are scared of - even if we know they would like them. I just don't think she is ready yet - but she wants it so very much.

We spent at least an hour at the store trying to get her over fear - she just is so scared. (I should point out this kid did drag me on Tower of Terror last month).

I caught a bit of a conversation between my girls last night.
DD8 - Did it hurt very very bad?
DD5 - No way Jose
DD8 - Did it feel like they were sticking many big needles in your years.
DD5 - No it just felt like somebody pinched my ear very hard. Then it went away.

Sher, just have DD5 reach over and pinch her sister's ear! :lmao: Well, it's what I would have done to my sister! She'd scream, yell "MOM". By the time you get to the room...pain's gone!

....isn't it a good thing I'm not a parent?.....

Ears are nothing, I had at one point 4 in one ear, 2 in the other, 2 eyebrow piercings that I just grew out of and got rid of but I still have my tongue piercing with a large assortment of Disney themed tongue rings to go in them, LOL. I would try one more time and if she still chickens out I would wait a month or two before trying again.

I can't really say because i've had just about everything pierced :rotfl: But having them done at a mall was actually very uncomfortable to me as a kid because of their procedure. They're also not trained to pierce as a profession. A piercer would have much more experience and it would be more sanitary. I know people are afraid of them but they're really awesome people! The only problems I ever had were from an ear piercing done with a gun at the mall when I was younger. But it's cheaper at the mall and if it's just a one lobe piercing you'll be fine!

You know I was really considering a tattoo/piercing place. I was just afraid the setting would freak her out. She has been watching a Jon & Kate plus eight where one of the older twins got her ears done. She has watched it so many times she could act out the whole scene. It took place at a mall shop.

I may look into a different kind of place. My moms group is a very open group of ladies. Many have tattoos are Vegan etc. A couple of years back - two our three of them celebrated some milestones together by getting their noses done. For some reason I think one of their sisters owns a well know place here. That might we worth a try.

She keeps asking me to take her today. I just don't think she is ready yet.

Hi all. Back from my first DLC! Had a blast. Will post more later. Just wanted to check in. Will catch up in the morning. TTFN

They sound awesome! For just the lob piercing on the ear it's not really a huge deal to go to a place at the mall where they'll use a gun but if it's cartilidge or anywhere else you should ALWAYS go to a piercer. But some places are much better than others. You'll usually know right when you walk in. It's hard for me to say, I had my ears done when I was about 6.

NC Belle: Huge Nascar fan myself, who is your favorite? Mine is and always has been Jeff Burton since his rookie year.

I like too drivers to have just 1 favorite...but, I do like Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Dale Jr., and Jimmy Johnson. My favorite track is Talladega. I participate on a weekly (during NASCAR race season) thread on picks for the week.

I have a lot of extended family in the Buffalo area plus other NY areas. The last time I was in Buffalo was 11.5 years ago for a baptism for our older niece. (We have 3 nephews, 2 nieces from NC Beast's older brothers plus a 4 month old nephew from my sister).

FIL update--- the poor man has developed bronchitis, but he is in less pain now that his radiation treatment session cycle ended (tomorrow---he is getting some kind of abone injection drug to strengthen them). He says that he can't wait to get back up to speed. He enjoyed watching MD beat UNC on the tv with his grandsons and son.

Cheeringmom--welcome back from your cruise.

Danauk---we enjoyed your DLP pictures.

I had a very productive day yesterday!!!! :woohoo:
I took the girls to IHOP for breakfast - they've never been there, and they enjoyed the different syrups on the table. Stephanie fell in love with the Butter Pecan syrup.
Then we searched the entire mall for a Christmas dress, and bought one from the first store we went to - Sears.
During our searching, we also shopped at a couple of other stores for Stephanie, because she was in the need of clothes. We also had some ice cream at Maggie Moos - has anyone has this before? It was okay, but very expensive. The girls each got a scoop of ice cream, and I got a Rootbeer Float, and it cost me a little over $13:eek: To expensive for me!!!!
Then we went to Kohls, and got a 2nd Christmas dress (so now one has to go back), and also some new shoes for the girls.
Then we came home, and I put Katie's room back together, and then until 9pm I was going through all her drawers, pulling out all the small stuff, and putting away some summer things for next year. Then I went through her closet and did the same thing. I have piles of clothes on her floor that need to go into a box for our Spring garage sale. I can't even imagine how many clothes I'll have to sell when I go through all the bags that are 4T and smaller - there'll be TONS!!!! I'm going to make a lot of money next year!!!!:thumbsup2
So, that was my very productive day - it was great!!!!! :yay:

cheeringmom - Welcome home!!! I can hardly wait to hear about your trip!!!:yay:

BB - We took Stephanie this year to a very reputable jeweler in our area, and they did such a great job. The girl was very experienced with piercing ears, and made Stephanie feel really great about what she was doing. Also, the setting of the jewelry store was more calm, than somewhere like Claire's or Libby Lu. Try calling some good jewelers and see if they do it. Good luck to your DD:wizard:

Belle - I'm sorry to hear your FIL is still not feeling well:guilty: I'll send some more PD:wizard: :wizard:

Well, I gotta go workoff all those pancakes I ate yesterday
I ate to many of them, but they were sure yummy!!!!:goodvibes

Have a good day!!!

Good morning everyone, finally got the kids off to school. Yesterday was busy day for me, wife worked 12 hour shift sat hospital so I cleaned house and was referee for the 4 kids, they sure like to fight a lot, the little ones always win.
Cheeringmom: Can't wait to hear about the cruise, I went for the first time in October and it was truly amazing.

Slo: My daughter who will be 6 in June is still wearing some 4T clothing, she is tiny. My son who will be 4 next month wears a lot of 7T stuff.

NC Belle: You have not been back for 11 years, I think it's time for a visit. One of these days I'll have to come down there by you and catch a race at Lowe's. Helped a friend move down there a few years ago and I went to some of the shops and DEI and it was amazing; can't wait for the Hall of Fame to open down there.
