I was wondering if anyone else ever had this issue:

My sister is going to be having a baby a month before my wedding. My coordinator says that the baby will count towards my 18 guests.

Not that we are in a bind because of this now.. I just don't see why a month old baby would count towards anything. He/She will not be using a chair or eating or drinking anything. Why would this matter?!

You have a valid point but I know that they do count. I think it is because if say you had like 10 young children it would make your guest count go up a lot and they don't want it to... so where as one baby doesn't make a difference a bunch would??? I dunno. Glad it won't put you in a bind.

I mean it is an escape wedding so there is not much room for tons of kids. The only kids that will be there will be my 3 year old nephew (who I totally will pay for.. the kid will definitely eat some cake!) and this new baby.

Actually I know why the baby counts. It's the law. Every human being counts. It has to do with fire codes and maximum capacities and such. I mean, if a place caught on fire and you were trapped, wouldn't you want the baby to be considerred a person? That's why they count. It's so that if there is a fire somewhere and say some of the staff got out but not everyone they could tell the Fire Dept. how many people were in the room and how many are accounted for outside of the venue.
