We are having 20 at our Escape wedding and more at the dessert party. I didn't think this would be a problem. This is the message from my planner, Danny.

"Thank you for your recent email. Typically as with any addition enhancement, such as Dessert Party, to our Fairy Tale Weddings - Escape Collection, our maximum Guest count is 20. However. if you would allow me a little time, I will check on the additional Guest Count. In the meantime, I would like reconfirm your Guest counts for your Escape Wedding. For your Ceremony and Celebration at Sea Breeze Point you are anticipating 18 Guests. At the Dessert Party, you are anticipating 24 Guests. Am I correct? "

Should I book this separately? We might have more than 24.

I'd wait and see if they let you book it with those few extra people. If not, you can always book the dessert party through Disney Catered Events the way people who aren't having Disney weddings do.

I remember when we had our wedding, our DP guest count had to match our ceremony/cake cutting guest count. (we were Escape and at the time were only allowed the 18 guests)
I specifically asked as I was thinking I might end up with a few extra people (ahem, Lurkyloo) including some other DISbrides.

They were very strict about it back then (before hand anyway, somehow Carrie snuck right on it with Jensey and I don't think Tanis every said anything, did she Carrie?)

They might have changed this policy since our wedding though. Hopefully you'll get an answer soon and as Carrie suggested you could go through Catered Events then.

:goodvibes

We weren't allowed extra people at the DP. But as many DFTW things are, your mileage may vary depending on your planner...

Thank you for the information. I am thinking that more people will say they will go to our wedding and dessert party than what will actually attend.

I had no idea they made you keep the same guest count. I was planning to invite more people to the dessert party too. If you go through disney catered events can you wear your wedding dress to your party, mainly concerned about Epcot illuminations dessert party?

That's the catch. If you go through Disney Catered Events, you can't wear your wedding gown inside the park.

We are kind of in the same position. My planner is Danny as well. We wanted a meal that more people could attend and were told that the guest count had to match if Danny were to set it up and have it be catered. Instead, we decided on having a brunch at a resort and made ADRs, let Danny know and he let the chef know.

I know it doesn't help with the DP, but know you're not alone!

I know this thread is for escape brides, but does anyone know if the same rule applies to wishes brides in the sense that the dessert party #of people has to match the wedding count? Just curious! TIA

I wouldn't think so as Wishes has no limit on Guest numbers where as Escape weddings do.

I'm not sure how that works. Wishes dessert parties have two food and beverage requirements: the cost per person for the entire wedding and the cost per person for the dessert party. If you have more people at your dessert party than you had at other events, will you be responsible for the extra people meeting the $100 or $125 or $150 per person food and beverage minimum for the entire wedding?

Aww man. Now I'm thinking maybe I will do a dessert party in Epcot as a welcome party. Do you know if I would be allowed to wear a cocktail dress? Something like a short homecoming dress, semi-formalish?

Yes! You are fine. It can even be white! :)

So I just talked to Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and they said there is no longer a minimum expenditure that is triggered when you book a dessert party through them. This is a new thing and that means I can book my dessert party through DFTW, wear my wedding dress in Epcot, and I only have to pay whatever the DP will cost and not try to meet a minimum. Awesome:cheer2:

Great news! So, it sounds like in this aspect, they're going back to the way it used to be.

May I ask what is the DP cost?? We are thinking of adding this on.

Dessert parties at Epcot cost $25-33/person, depending on the menu you choose. The menus are completely customizable so that can drop the price below $25 and raise it well above $33. There is also a venue rental fee. Most are $250. Most also have $85 set up fees if they have to bring in tables. Uk terrace already has tables, so there is no setup fee there.
