Escalators broken at The Land alternate exit open

We were in Epcot at The Land, the escalators were not working and after we got off Living With the Land, my dh noticed an exit door to the right of the ride exit, past the waiting point for the restaurant was open. It led out to a path that brought you straight down in front of Journey Into the Imagination.

I was very glad to take that shortcut, rather than wait for the elevator, and walk that long way around out and down the front. CM told my dh the exit is normally closed and they opened it due to the escalator problems. Hope it helps someone else if the escalator problem hasn't been resolved, it seemed they were broken a lot back in March too.

They have been working on them for awhile I think their replacing them so the short cut has been open for a over a month. Which is great they thought of the short cut it help with guest with ecvs and walkers so they don't have to wait for the elevator and that would be a mess. To bad they couldn't just keep the short cut open all the time.

That's good to know. Dh and DS waited and waited for the elevator back up.

Not sure when and if they start construction on figment they will be able to use that exit for safety reasons.
