Epic Universe update

I think that ride will end up being the most popular/most talked about in the park.

Rumor is that universal had deal with mack rides to build the racing coaster in the hub and a splash battle in how to train dragon then saw the success of the lastest version of the extreme spinning coaster(ride to happiness in Europe) and did a deal with Mack for a similar extreme spinning coaster in classic monsters.

I think they will probably ask Mack to go further than the 55mph and 6 inversions of ride to happiness. Even if it's just 56mph and 7 inversions it makes it easy to advertise.

Making the coaster alone thrilling then with horror theming to the levels seen with velocoaster/hagrids it will be unique and cater to for older teens and young adults.
I would love it if that is true. Add in the new coaster coming to SeaWorld and it's a coaster lover's dream. Its unfortunate many here don't seem excited for coasters or Epic Universe

I think once we start really seeing the structures and rides, then excitement will start to go up more. Right now the only true confirmed stuff we have is the one piece of concept art (though many things are pretty much confirmed from permits and other things) and very basic construction still. Once they give more details on what all is there and we see it take shape, a lot more people will begin to talk about it. We are very excite about Epic Universe but it's still three years away so can only keep excitement levels up so high, and feel all the information we have so far has been discussed in detail already.

A YouTube update video. One of the big things that came out of the video is they have added to the budget for the park for the Harry Potter area.

They have enough already in all parks to cater to that crowd. I think Epic Universe actually needs more ride to drive in Disney Customers. Going that fast with inversions imo won't do that. I hate coasters but have zero issues going on any Disney coasters. I won't however ride velocaster or hulk or ripride. ( which is already more crazy coasters than Disney in general )

Might as well go to seaward. They have great coasters.

I am not saying they are wrong for wanting crazy coasters. I am just saying this is also probably the biggest chance to get those disney crowds to try out epic universe, so more like hagrids and forbidden journey I would prefer. Slightly more family friendly

I disagree. I think there can be a balance in the parks for both high thrill and family rides. They will have plenty of family rides in Epic Universe. Not every ride needs to be for everyone.

I agree. Disney is big competition for them but big thrills are also a big draw for many people as well. And as mentioned above Sea World has lots of big coasters too and while Disney is their main competition, they are still competing with Sea World/Busch Gardens as well for attendance.

Universal needs some good dark rides with animatronics and no/minimal screens. The two they have are fine and enjoyable, but they aren’t at Disney level (especially Cat in the Hat). I can stare at screens at home, but I can’t go on a ride where I am surrounded by animatronics at home.

I agree. I hope we start getting more dark rides with Physical sets. Screens are ok for occasional bits or to supplement the physical things. The rumors for the classic monsters ride is a Kuka arm system but with all physical sets and I really hope that is true. Mario Kart looks like a nice mix of AR/screens and physical sets, Yoshi has physical sets (though pretty basic). Hopefully we can get some more physical dark rides.

I think Spiderman and Transformers does a great job of screens and physical sets.

That is the only part of this new park that excites me. I will go over to ride the rides, I am a coaster fan, but don't care much for monsters or Nintendo themes, have never seen any of the How to Train your Dragon movies. I will give it a try, as I expect the theming will be well done. I spend the majority of my Universal time now in Hogsmeade, with Seussland coming in 2nd.
