Hi,

Just wanted to get some thoughts on Spaceship Earth ride at Epcot. Is this good for preschooler's (5 year old), or is it scary because it is dark?

Also, is it worth a FP (coming in Oct)?

Would like to hear more about it for anyone who has experienced it.
Thanks.

I don't find it scary at all for children…it's slow-moving, and relaxing…in fact, it's a great ride to sneak a short nap or snooze in, especially during the heat of the day! ;)

Although the line can get long (especially during the morning), it is a rather fast-loading attraction, which means the line moves pretty quickly. In October, you should probably be fine riding it without a FP, especially if you wait until late afternoon or early evening.

Fine for all ages, IMO. It's not a great FP choice, but it's not a bad one either. See the green link in my signature for more info.

Thanks. I actually took a look at your link and saw it was marked as a B, so wasn't sure if in the end that meant we should mark it as FP or not (and also for Oct timeframe - week of Oct 19th). Have also never been to Disney before so trying to understand just how busy the lines get.

I just this week moved it from a C to a B because I have read enough reports (and experienced personally) that standby lines are now longer most of the day.

It's absolutely fine for the youngest of children. This is a "classic" Disney ride. It incorporates all of the things that Disney does best which(of course) makes it the perfect "family ride".

Spaceship earth was my youngest sister's first disney ride ever...she was 3 and loved it.

I'll agree with everyone else, it is a fine ride for little ones. I'm torn on the FP+, I experiences long SB lines in January but the line moves fast since it is a continuous loader. It's not a terrible choice for FP+, but the line should move fast if you choose to do it SB.

Most people tend to gravitate to it first thing since it is right at the entrance, so I would do it later in the day if possible.

It's a ride full of animatronics showing you the evolving times of the world and where the future might take us. There's a few parts where it's dark, but I don't consider it a dark at all. Should be fine for any kid.

As far as FP, either hit it early if you're in front of the line to get in, or wait a little. But I wouldn't use a FP for it. Since it's the first ride you pass by and it's right in the middle, a lot of people tend to hop in line for it as they enter the park. So if you see there's quite a few people there at rope drop, then just head back there in a couple hours. This is one ride where throughout the day it can either be a 30 minute wait, or a walk on.

I have yet to see it packed throughout an entire day, so don't FP it and you should be fine

We have a tape of a 1 year squealing with delight throughout the ride. We accidently left the video camera running and I was glad that we did!

Thanks all for the advice. I originally had it marked for my older one (DS9), but will keep it for my DD5 as well.

On our Epcot day, we have ADR at 9:15am so can't go first thing, and then will be heading to MK later in the day around 4pm for MNSSHP...but sounds like a FP isn't worthwhile. To be honest, I prefer not to have too many FP as I want some day where we are not on a schedule. So perhaps will just keep them to the really recommended ones.

My 4yo likes the ride enough but definitely LOVES the "Power City" game at the exit. And at 5 minutes per game, we end up waiting in that line longer than SE. ;)
