Our next trip to the World is still far away (July 2010), but with the implementation of the 180-day ADR window once again, I will be making our ADRs in the middle of January. I am looking into restaurants now, as I am a teacher and off for a couple of more weeks, then will be very busy with work and my kids in school as well. The plan is to choose tentative restaurants now, and DH and I will sit down some time over Christmas break to finalize everything, a couple of weeks before I make our ADRs.
OK, so here's the situation. It will be me, DH, and 2 boys who will be 3 and 5 when we go. We will have 3 days at Epcot, and we do not have park hoppers. The first day at Epcot, my parents, sister and nieces will be with us. I am a little torn with the TS restaurants in Epcot. I have looked at the menus, and I know we definitely do not want to do Coral Reef (not much on the dinner menu is appealing to us). We definitely want to do one dinner at Biergarten, and one dinner at Chefs de France. We need to choose a third TS meal at Epcot.
My sister, nieces and parents are definitely going to Akershus for lunch. I looked at the menu and it looks OK. It also looks like a great deal on the basic DDP, which we will most likely have. I am not sure though, since this is a princess meal and we have boys, and we will already be going to dinner with all of them at the castle on our MK day together. My sister knows that we prefer TS dinners and not lunches, and that we would probably not be dining together at Epcot. Everyone is fine with this if it happens this way, including us. We are OK if we do not spend every waking moment together, we will still all have fun together at WDW! Any opinions on Akershus lunch with boys, and the food there?
If we do decide to do a TS dinner instead of the Akershus lunch (more likely), I am a little torn. DH is not picky, but he does love the WS restaurants and to try different varieties of foods. I have looked at Tutto Italia, which looks fantastic, but I am a bit skeptical because we are really picky about Italian food (we have some of the best Italian restaurants here in NYC and that is what we are used to, and we are each part Italian!). We DO NOT eat at places like Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill, so if Tutto Italia is anything like those, we want no part of it. I am also unsure about Le Cellier. Again, when we go out for a good steak, we expect it to be a good steak. I have seen mixed reviews about Le Cellier. I know it is a good deal on the DDP, but I want it to be good quality! DH and I do enjoy going to Outback, with the expectation that it is Outback, not Peter Luger! But, I think if Le Cellier is comparable to Outback, we would be disappointed. I know we don't want to go to the restaurant in China for sure. Teppan-Edo in Japan is a possibility, as my boys love the hibachi-style dining, and so do we. Any other suggestions?
Then there is always the option of NOT going to WS for dinner one night, and instead going to the Garden Grill for the character meal for the boys. How is the food there? Is Mickey still there?
For CS lunches, we plan to go to Tangierine Cafe one day again (we LOVED it there), and to the Cantina in Mexico one day. The third one is undecided. We are thinking of Yakitori House but I am not sure if my kids would like the kids' meal option there. Any other CS suggestions in the WS? How is the one in Norway? Again, we will definitely not go to the CS in China.
Thanks in advance for any advice! We would like to make the most of dining in Epcot, as this is our favorite place to eat at WDW!!
