Hi! I am trying to plan our itinerary for October and want to know which mode of transportation you think is best for getting from EPCOT to MK after Illuminations. My friend and I are going back and forth.

I think we should run out the International Gateway (we plan on watching the show in France) and catch a MK bus at Boardwalk, YC or BC (I don't know which is closer). My friend thinks we should take the monorail. However, my argument is that even though we are going in the "off season" we'd be fighting the throngs to get out of EPCOT, wait for the monorail, and then change monorails at the TTC and thus cause me a headache. Either way I think it will take the same ammount of time to get to MK, I just think it would be easier to walk to an EPCOT resort and take a direct bus. What do you all suggest? Thanks!

I think it would be much easier to catch the bus from one of the resorts. You'd have to fight the throngs of people leaving the park in order to get to the monorail station, and have to switch at the TTC. So much easier to catch a bus.

I think this is what I insist we do. He just loves the monorail but we're taking the resort one the day before, which will just have to be enough for him to get his fix! I'd rather take the bus if it's easier. Thanks!

Either will work, but I agree that the main entrance is much more likely to be crowded.

Oh, and BC is the closest; it's on the Epcot end of the Y&BC complex and it's a five minute walk to the near end of BC and maybe 8-10 minutes to the bus depot out front.

I would take the bus. The walk to the BC will be much faster than walking through Epcot, getting on the monorail, transferring to the other monorail. At least with the bus, you might have to wait until it arrives (typically 10-15 minutes) but then it is a straight shot there. My vote is International Gateway to BC to MK.

Watching from France, I would agree that slipping out the back and catching a bus at BC would be quicker than fighting through the front entrance to get to the monorail.

The only problem with going out the IG, and taking the bus from BC is that once you get on the bus, that bus MAY stop at YC, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin before heading on to MK.

This is very true, and one of my biggest frustrations staying at BC in 2004.

However, I still think this is a faster and easier way of getting to MK from EPCOT. Not only would it be less crowded this way, but you won't have to transfer at the TTC, which you would have to do via the monorail.

Interesting. I stayed a BC for a week in 2005 and never once stopped at another resort on the way to a park, and only stopped at the YC on the way back.

It wasn't every time, of course, but it did happen frequently on the way back FROM parks. It didn't seem to do this so much on the way TO parks. So the OP may be in luck.

But it's worth noting that it can happen, and those routes seem to be pretty flexible depending on crowd levels at the bus stops.

My opinion is if you can get to the Epcot Monorail station with the Monorail already being there that would save a lot of time, because you don't need to wait for the next one to arrive. Also once at the TTC the Express Monorail comes every 3-5 minutes, so it's not that long of a wait if everything would work out like that.

i vote for walking to bc and take a bus.

I agree, walk to the BC, and take the bus. I took the monorail to the Transportation Center and it took forrever to find the bus I needed. The signs there are not that good.
