I know you can take the boat from MGM to Epcot and even cut it short by getting off at Dolphin and walking. How does it work in the reverse? Does the boat only go in one direction or does it reverse itself on the trip back?

Boat goes both ways - and if you get the boat at the Dolphin, walking from MGM, it is the same boat that just left MGM. The boat is a nice slow ride. You can walk the entire distance faster if you are so inclined.

The boat retraces its stops.

A dumb question here...I've never done the walk from MGM to Epcot...is there a path clearly marked to show the way?

I've been wondering how long it would take to walk from Epcot to MGM, or visa versa. I am trying to plan, and needed this information.

It is very clearly marked. You just have to cut through from the front of the Boardwalk Resort to the back along the canal and take a left.

It is a little over a mile from EPCOT to MGM via the Boardwalk. Here is a link to a post that shows distances by Caskbill. Just scroll down and find the information on EPCOT to the Boardwalk and the Boardwalk to MGM.

Happy Birthday Cat, thank you for the answer & the link! I really appreciate the info! :) :wave2:

To go from Epcot to MGM, it is quicker to walk and much more enjoyable. Plus, with all the walking you are doing anyhow, what is a few more feet. We have left either way and marked the boat that was leaving when we were and always beat it from park to park. But, the boat ride is pretty cool if you are in no hurry or have never done before.

We did the walk from the Dolphin to both MGM and Epcot this past April with our 3 year old in a stroller... Very Easy walks!

If you're going from MGM to Epcot, I like taking the boat to Swan/Dolphin (the first stop) and then walking across the Boardwalk to Epcot. I find the walk from MGM to S/D or the Boardwalk to be a little boring (though only 15 minutes). The walk from S/D to Epcot is much shorter and there's lots to see.
