Epcot to MGM and other trips in the World

We will be at Epcot in the morning (mostly World Showcase), and need to be at MGM for a PS at 4:30pm. I am wondering if we can get to MGM on a boat?

If not direct from Epcot, can we walk to the Epcot resorts through the "back" gate, then hop a boat there to MGM? (We plan to end our Epcot tour in that area of WS). I seem to remember taking a boat from MGM to the resorts years ago.

If so, about how long is the trip?

(I am really looking for a bus alternative, since we are at CBR and expect to be on the buses a lot. We will have our car, but really only plan to use it to get to other resorts for dinners, or to the Boardwalk. )

By the way, if we do drive to the Boardwalk, where would we park? Thinking of dinner at Spoodles on our first day (not the same day as the Epcot to MGM trip.)

Finally, (back to Epcot again) - I think there's a boat that circulates in the WS lagoon. What is the path (direction) and where are the stops? We'd like to get from Norway / China area to Morocco / France, and it looks like we could walk over to the WS Plaza (name?) and catch a boat that direction, but I'm not sure. Not sure if that's more or less walking than going the other way around past Germany/ Italy/ American Adventure.

There is a boat from the Epcot World Showcase to the Studios. The boats run every 20 minutes at that time of the day, and can take up to 30-35 mins to reach the Studios.

There is also a bus from the front of Epcot to the Studios. The bus runs every 15 minutes, and the bus ride is only 10 minutes.

The Epcot/MGM boat calls in at all the hotels on the way. If you don't have little children with you, it might be faster to walk. (30 mins gate to gate)

BTW, World Showcase doesn't open until 11am. If you are not too interested in Future World, why not park at MGM, then walk back to Epcot (or take the boat or bus)?

Great info - thank you both so much. Chip N Dale, I can always count on you for great information!

Andrew - We have PS for the Princess Breakfast in Norway at 10:10. We're hoping to hit Test Track at park opening, then Spaceship Earth. Those are about the only two don't miss items for us in Future World on this trip. Hoping that will work out about right. Then that leaves us WS after our late breakfast until mid-afternoon, then off to MGM. Not planning to drive that day, so parking's not an issue.

So you can actually walk from Epcot to MGM? I didn't realize that. I'll have to take a better look at our maps. Of course, after touring WS, we may welcome the boat ride to rest our feet, even with a lot of stops.
