We are staying at BWV and rope drop at EPCOT is such a disadvantage. However, I read that they are now letting us in closer to future world. For anyone who has stayed at Beach Club or BWV recently- can you tell me where rope drop starts?

I stayed at BCV a couple weeks ago and went to the International Gateway before the park opened. We were let in a few minutes early and allowed to go to the big fountain in the main plaza and saw rope drop from there.

Interesting.

I've been reading posts about this for years.

In all the dozens upon dozens of reports, I've never heard of guests from the International Gateway being let into FW to the Fountain of Nations to wait for rope drop.

Always in the past, if guests were allowed to enter Epcot early (say, by about 10 minutes) through the International Gateway, those guests were held near UK... then, released at straight-up "opening time" to go join the front gate guests, who have just come from the rope drop, to head to the FW attractions.

I'd like to read more reports about the recent International Gateway/Rope Drop situation.

In June (not very recent) we were let in just to the UK hill, as Robo describes. And it has been that way everytime I can recall. We usually stay at YC/BC, and go through IG often, sometimes at park opening.

We were let in and held at the start of WS last Sept on one day and not on another .Regardless, even if they don't let you thru, there is no big disadvantage coming in from the IG unless you feel the need to HAVE TO be first on Soarin.I got to Soarin slightly behind the people from the front of the park ,and I still didn't have to wait to ride.

In August, we were allowed to enter through the Intl Gateway about 8:45, then we walked through WS, to the walkway between FutureWorld and WS. We were held at the end of that area, before you get to the fountain area. When rope drop came, 2/3 of the people went left to Soarin' and 1/3 veered off to the right to TT.

Which end do you mean?

Were you on the bridge at the FW end or the WS end.

Where on the map?

We were there in June and gathered for rope drop near the "twin gift shops" on Robo's map. We then headed towards Future World at rope drop and cut over to Test Track via the Odyssey pathway. We still arrived behind many of the visitors entering from the front, but definitely not all of them. If I remember correctly those that went to Soarin were waiting for the rope drop by the path right past Canada that would take them directly to Soarin.

That makes me so happy!! Sooo glad they finally moved us a little closer!

From the replies, I'm thinking that it is still hit-or-miss on exactly where
International Gateway guests are "held."

Just this last Tuesday, rope drop for the International Gateway guests had the option of going to the rope drop by the fountain. So they passed Club Cool and were standing next to the Character Connection. At RD, some went towards Soarin and some went towards Test Track.

How awesome!! As long as we are further than rose and crown I am a happy girl!

Robo...you know that little triangular garden area, just after you cross over from WS? It's just past the walkway from TT and Odyssy area. That's where they held us for rope drop.

We experienced the same in August. Disney CMs guide you toward the roped off area.

Bumping this as iam interested in recent reports of entering through internationl gateway.:)

Could anyone tell me what are the crowds like at the turnstiles at IG??...If we get there at 8.30 would we be near the front?

Just got back on Tuesday and we stayed at BC. Minimal crowds at IG entrance at 8:30 a.m. We actually left BC at 8:00 a.m. because we had to buy our annual passes first and we were the second people out there. By the time they let us in, I'd say there were 20 people out there waiting.

Rope drop has definitley moved - you had an option to stand at a rope right past Canada on your left (little path by the rose bushes); or all the way up by the fountain past club cool, by the ice cream shop. We were the only family on that side - everyone else was across at the other side coming in from the Main entrance. We were the second people on Soarin' - so it was definitley an advantage!

Thanks...thats really good to know!:)

We are having a 7.30am breakfast at capemay so hopefully the plan is to leave BC by 8.10am...because we have to exchage our vouchers for AP's at the ticket window first.:)

Waht about people eating in WS? We have an 8:05 ressie for the princess breakfast. Can we go in the main entrance or will we need to go through the international gateway? Where will we be to wait for rope drop? (assuming we get out in time)

I believe you will be held at the same point that those coming in from IG are held.they will not make you go thru the IG.
