EPCOT on July 4th - Are we crazy??

My husband and I just booked July 4th weekend at the Poly. We plan on going to EPCOT on Saturday, July 4th. We don't plan to ride anything but just enjoy the atmosphere and fireworks.
How crazy are we?? Though we are passholders, we have never been to Disney on July 4th.
What should we expect?

We have not been to WDW on the 4th of July but I have heard that the 4th is just like NYE except hot! On NYE there was an hour wait for Figment! Atmosphere might be hard to absorb in the crowds but if you know what to expect and have your expectations set - you'll be fine! Although with FPP - why wouldn't you plan on enjoying some attractions? Definitely make sure you have an ADR or two!

Epcot will be slammed,but not "NYE Slammed"!

And "The Heartbeat of Freedom",although short, is my favorite fireworks show of the year-think World War 3!

Yes,it begins immediately after the IllumiNations finale(ROE is at 10:00 PM on Independence Day).

The Magic Kingdom fireworks are "Disney's Celebrate America! - A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" shown at 9:00 PM on both the 3rd and 4th.

I'd say just make sure to get your fastpasses online in advance and make reservations for a restaurant ASAP if you want to eat at the park. As long as you expect and can handle large crowds, Florida heat, and the potential for a rainstorm you should still have fun. Plus if you get too tired of the crowd you can relax and enjoy the hotel.

If your stay also includes the 3rd of July, you can watch the Magic Kingdom 4th of July fireworks that night from your hotel. (They do still do a rehearsal the night before right?!)
