I have read several different things that says there's nothing for children to do at Epcot. On my next trip I was wondering how much time I should spend in Epcot with my 6 year old niece and what rides and attractions we should do. And how much time I should schedule to be there.

There really is quite a lot for kids to do in Epcot. Have you gotten a guidebook yet? I would recommend Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW for Kids. It gives a great overview of what's good for kids and what isn't. I know that in World Showcase, my dd loved doing the Kidcot Stops in each country. She also had one of the Disney Passport thingies that she got signed in each country.

We loved Epcot, our DS,s were 2 and a half and 9 months at the time. It was one of our Favs!!! We skiped MGM. Have a great trip!!!

I always liked Epcot when I went as a kid (ages 6, 10, and 14.) There weren't really any rides when I was there either. But I just thought it was neat to walk around. And when I was 10 I had my first camera. I loved taking photos of the buildings in all the countries. I'm excited to go back as an adult.

I think it varies though. I know a lot of kids that wouldn't like epcot and a lot that would.

My kids were 6 and 8 years old when we first went to WDW. As much as they loved Magic Kingdom, their favorite park at that time was Epcot ... and still is. They thoroughly enjoyed the attractions in Future World, and were enthralled with World Showcase. Illuminations was, and is, also their favorite fireworks show.

Hogwash, our kids have always loved Epcot...

My kids at 6,8, and 10 said Epcot was their favorite. They enjoyed making masks and were on a mission to get each stamp in their passport. They also enjoyed the different performers in each country.Check the schedules, as they are easy to miss if you don't know where and when to see them. But they also loved museums and the zoo. Now at 16,18,and 20 they were more into rides! So, it may depend on her interests as well.

Thanks for all the great info. This is my first trip to Disney World with a child. I haven't gotten a guide book yet and I will definitely check out Birnbaums.

Spaceship Earth, Innoventions, Universe of Energy, Mission:Space Race, Journey Into Imagination, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Living with the Land, Circle of Life, Jr. Chef, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, Grand Fiesta Tour, and Maelstrom. Not to mention all the KidKot Fun Stops as well as Test Track, Mission:Space, and Soarin' if they meet the height and bravery requirements.

Oh Pooh!pooh:
My DD's have already expressed that we don't usually spend enough time at Epcot during our trips. They especially enjoy Garden Grill for dinner. Also, Soarin' got a huge thumbs up from everyone from MIL all the way down to DD5 a couple of years ago. It's a great time. Enjoy!!
:thumbsup2

It's worth it to take your niece to Epcot. My 6 yo loved Turtle Talk with Crush, the whole Seas Pavilion, Test Track, Soarin', Maelstrom, the Kidcot stops, the street performers in Italy and France, the miniature trains at Germany and on and on. He was really disappointed to learn that Spaceship Earth won't be open when we make it back next month. It is definitely different from the Magic Kingdom, but there is no shortage of things to do and surprises all over the place. We found it to be less intensely paced than our days at the other parks, but there is more walking, so get a stroller!

Be sure to take them to see the Candy Lady in Japan. She will make several kids the sucker of their choice during her show. My kids were fascinated with her. You can get a card with her show times on it inside the store at Japan.

Our kids liked Epcot so much that when we decided to purchase DVC, we got points at the Boardwalk. They had just started selling points at Saratoga Springs, but we waited until some at BWV were available. We love the whole area.

We took one of my nieces a couple of years ago for her 6th birthday. She loved Epcot. We did the kidcot stations, there are lots of characters. Really didn't concentrate on rides at all although she did like Soaring but hated Mission Space it really freaked her out.

I think the best part of Epcot is not doing rides but the many hands on activities like the kidcot, building a robot, playing in the fountains, listening to the bands, the shows. It really is impossible to do everything in a day, it lets the kids be a part of the show not just observers.

Our DD's have been going since they were infants, and LOVE it! They used to just be amazed at the "glitters" in the sidewalk, and the attractions are fantastic! That park is so beautiful and serene, I would consider it a "must do"
for any and all ages! :thumbsup2

Part of the fun of the Kidcot Funstops is seeing who can find them first in each country! DD6 at the time loved that game! She liked the Kidcot Funstops and The Seas (Nemo). Some kids at that age like Soarin' and Test Track. We walked around Epcot (World Showcase) a few evenings, and she seemed happy looking around. There are "street shows", too. We unexpectedly ran into characters in the toy shop in GB (Alice in Wonderland, Tigger, and Pooh) and in Morocco (Jasmine and Aladin). Both times were in the evening, and she practically had the characters to herself.

There is plenty for young kids to enjoy, but it just isn't the obvious kind of fun like Fantasyland.

OMG - my daughers LOVE:love: EPCOT. They are 13 & 11 now; but we've been going every year since they were 6 & 4. It ranks second behind MK as their favorite!

It's Disney, there is something for kids everywhere. Our kids loved Nemo, Soarin, Figment, The ride in the ball (can't remember the name), The 3 Callabros in the Mexican Pavillion, The vicking ride in the Norway pavillion, Also there is Test track and Mission space for taller children. There is tons to do there. It's Disney, it's all about the kids.

My kids love Epcot way more then MGM. There is lots for them to do there!!!
