Epcot - new thing

the BCV can't book an EPcot view - based on something being built at Epcot...

anyone know what this is????

I have heard about Canada - but they are also refusing to book in the area across from Spaceship Earth.

I have been wondering the same thing. . . .I think partially because of soarn' and probabl;y new ride?!?!? I read somethings at Jimhill's site. Maybe I should try to call MS?? I have a ressie at VWL and BCV, and let's see what I can come up with.

What is a good view at VWL?!?!?!?

MS--member services for disney vacation club--our accounting area, and booking ressies

BCV--beach club villas
VWL--wilderness lodge villas

rumor has it that there are no more request view at BCV due to some circumstances of not being able to see anymore???????

I didn't think MS had the details.

I can't image what WDW could be during to the FW part that would completely close all the views you can get from BCV.

ms - member services
FW - future world
WDW - walt disney world

fW is that part of Epcot - where Spaceship Earth, THe land (you know that might be it....), Journy into the Imagnation - can be seem (the backs of them) from BCV.

Just got off the phone with MS.

I got at the VWL either water view or geyser view--so I was not being to picky!!

Epcot--was told that I could get the quiet pool view and that they were not taking requests for epcot view. She claimed not to know why--they were just told that. I tried!!!! So, I left it to no request for a view, since my sole purpose for staying at BCV is for SAB

only time will tell. . . . . .

When I heard about this, I contacted member services. When I didn't like the canned response, I asked again. Here is what I got back:

Thank you for your recent message.

I apologize that the information ****** provided in her reply was not helpful to you. Member Services is still accepting requests for specific views/room locations as we have done in the past. Due to the construction of "Soarin'" that will open at Epcot later this year, the view of Spaceship Earth and IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth fireworks that once existed at Disney's Beach Club Villas no longer exists. The rooms in this area are now considered a garden/woods view since the Soarin' show building now blocks the view of Spaceship Earth. If you would like to receive a room in this general area of the resort, you are able to request a room that ends in either -53 through -77. For example, rooms on the first floor would be 153 - 177, second floor would be 253 - 277, etc. In case you are not aware, there are five total floors in this section of the resort.

Now, it may just be me, but I don't think the Soarin' building currently blocks SpaceShip Earth or Illuminations... I mean you can ONLY see Illuminations way up over the trees ANYWAY! Wonder if they are going to be adding something REALLY big

I'll bet it comes down to a case of symantics... Maybe 'Epcot View' was too misleading to those that didn't know any better, and they are using Soarin' as an excuse to 'fix' the naming error.

At least we know how to request a room over there now.

Thanks for finding that out tagrel. I think you are right about the epcot view. Could be a source for a few 'naughty' DVC moments at the front desk.

Thanks everyone!! I am fairly new to dvc--2003--ssr and I wanted to say earlier could have been from the naughty OP thread.

So if I am understanding correctly I should ask for a garden view for a good chance?? I have never stayed at BCV and have always dream of being able to see SE from my balcony.

Yes - I would ask for what he stated - woods/garden view.

although I think someone else asked for a woods view and were told there weren't any....

I think I am going to leave my ressies the way they are.

VWL-geyser or water view--I hope these are good choices--MS said they were.

BCV--just the non-smoking--I think that I am going to let them surprise me We will being transfering over to BCV after VWL. I plan on checkiing out of VWL around 9/10 and driving over to BCV to let them know I am there and off to epcot for the day. I have heard about room checkin at BCV so I hope that mine will be ready after illuminations Have to have some laughter here When you arrive early like this does it give you a better chance on your view?? I know that it did at SSR. They were great over there!! Thanks!!

The building housing the new attraction Soarin' blocks the Epcot view from the Beach Club and the Beach Club Villas. Yes, I can foresee some interesting things at the front desk....

I have been in an Epcot View room at BCV since they built the Soarin building and the view of Illuminations was not blocked at all and I could still see Spaceship Earth just fine. It is possible that some of the rooms might be blocked a bit depending on what angle of the resort you were in, but I don't think it would be completely blocked.

Thank you Tagrel for getting a response. I am surprised they told you to ask for specific block of rooms since most people on the DVC boards consider that a major no no.
