HI I have some questions about the monorail, to my understanding you need to take the monorail to each park. But from reading some posts you have a choice of riding the monorail.
Please help!

Thanks

The monorail only goes to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Where are you staying?

The monorail goes from the TIcket and Transportation Center to Epcot or to the MK via the Poly, the Grand Floridian, and later the Contemporary.

All other hotels have access to each park via bus.

AK and MGM are only served by bus (or boat from Epcot resorts to the MGM).

There are two monorail routes using seperate trains and rails. They both meet at the TTC where you can switch monorails.

Monorail # 1 runs clockwise with stops at the TTC, Poly, GF, magic Kingdom and the CR.

Monorail # 2 runs clockwise with stops at the TTC and Epcot.

Therefore, to get from MK to Epcot using the monorail you have to switch at the TTC.

The monorail does not stop at MGM, TL, BB or AK...you would have to use a bus to get to those parks and water parks.

the only time that you must take the monrail is if you park in the TTC (big parking lot for the MK) - then you need to take the tram which lets you off at TTC - then you need to take either the monrail or ferry to MK.

the only other time is if you are staying at a MK resort - Cont, Polyn, GF - they get to both the MK and Epcot by monrail.

All other hotels have access to each park via bus.

I don't think there are buses for MGM and Epcot at any Epcot resort. you can walk or boat. I could be wrong but I know the BW has none.

Hi everyone thanks for the replys! I'm still kind of confused. We are staying at a hotel in Lake Buena Vista, we aren't planning on going to MK just Epcot, but I want my boyfriend to experience the monorail. We are probably going to drive ourselves so where would we go to pickup the monorail?

Thanks!

Well, you could park at the main parking area at MK. This puts you at what is the TTC (ticket and transportation center). You can hop on the monorail to Epcot here. Or, you can drive to Epcot, park in their parking lot and then take the monorail for a ride to the TTC and then either switch to the Epcot bound monorail (you have to get off and change sides at the station) or you could get off and change over to the resort line which would take you to the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian, the MK, the Contemporary and then back to the TTC.
If you do park at MK and take the monorail to Epcot then you will have to return there to pick up the car at the end of the day...but I guess that would be obvious wouldn't it!?

You are right. You need to either walk or take the boat from all Epcot resorts.

Fair warning.

If you asked by boyfriend what his LEAST favorite part of our recent Disney trip was the response would be "monorail" It was CRAZY on there, packed to the gills and TONS of out of control kids. (Yes, truly out of control, they were hitting me and I didn't know them!)

If your boyfriend is NOT a Disney fan you might not want him to "experience" the monorail.
