Everything points to the Test Track overhaul being canceled!!!

This really grinds my gears but maybe Tim Tebow can help:worship:

delayed to jan is what ive been told, guess they figured having it down over the summer would be a very bad idea, plus most of the next-gen stuff should be running by then

It seemed very out of the norm to shut down a major crowd draw during peak seasons instead of their usual Jan-March timeframe for major refurbs.

Another rumor mill fail.

Test Track closes April 16 for extended refurb.

Was hoping this rumor was true....going in May and hearing that two of my absolute favorite rides (of my 3 favorite- TWO of them will be out!)...(TT and BTMRR)...

The good news is that it seems that Test Track is actually in FULL working condition (all aspects) for the first time in years. Everything was running exactly as intended two weeks ago, which is very commendable considering the last time I rode it the on-ride audio was broken, on-ride screen was broken, hardly any sound from the attraction cues, and alot of stopping periods.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see it re-done, but I'm ecstatic it's actually running at full efficiency for the first time in a while.

Just because you didn't experience a problem does not necessarily mean it is in "FULL working condition"... :)

I still haven't seen any official announcement of when it closes. And the official park calendar is broken at the moment (you can't get details on a given day).

Well no ride is in full full working condition. I was insinuating that it's currently in a much, MUCH better condition than it has been over the past few years.

Just because the project is postponed, I don't think it's right to say "Epcot gets the shaft yet again!"

In January, Disney and GM announced that the two firms had agreed on a new sponsorship contract. Under the new agreement, the GM-sponsored Test Track attraction would be updated to become the Chevrolet Design Center, with work beginning in April. There was no specific date in the announcement, but it was safe to assume it would not be until after the Easter crowds were gone.

I'm sure that was the plan at the time. For some reason, the schedule slipped. There is no reason to believe that GM is suddenly walking away from Test Track. It's a highly effective way to expose millions of people (who would never bother to visit a Chevrolet dealer) to Chevrolet's current product line.

Postponed? What is your source? Every source still indicates that Test Track will close on April 16th and re-open in the Fall.

Well, this thread is about the rumor that it is postponed. But it doesn't look like it, even though Disney still hasn't announced the date AFAIK.

Which reliable source indicates that there are still firm plans for Test Track to close on April 16th and re-open in the fall?

The Epcot calendar at the official WDW website does not currently show anything under "Operational Updates" indicating that Test Track will be "closed for refurbishment" in April, May, or June.

In comparison, the Magic Kingdom calendar shows that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Liberty Square Riverboat, and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin have current or imminent closures "for refurbishment."

It could be that someone is just doing a bad job maintaining the official Epcot calendar.

However, the other thing that lends credibility to the rumor is that the official Disney media site no longer includes the January press release. Of course other sites republished the press release, so it can still be found -- but not at the official Disney media site.
