Epcot Fountain Becomes a Hot Tub

All I can think when I look at pictures like this is, “And THIS is why there are so many warning labels on everything.” People have absolutely no common sense any more. I have no problem with having fun and living your life as long as you’re not hurting anyone, but there are certain things- like chilling in a fountain with cocktails, amongst other things- that anyone with half a functioning brain cell knows not to without needing to be told.
It's also about respect for yourself, your surroundings and your fellow human beings. Don't smoke under a NO SMOKING sign, then get nasty when someone asks you to stop or move away. Don't climb up an obviously decorative wall or partition. Don't allow your children to throw rocks to scare a defenseless duck, rabbit or bird. Don't leave your trash and food spilled everywhere and walk away - take the darn tray 2 feet to the garbage can. So many adults today disgust me. No manners. No class. No sense of personal accountability or responsibility. :sad2:

AND GET OFF MY LAWN! lol

Well, it is what it it, but there are endless numbers of threads on the WDW boards about annoying/disruptive/rule-breaking behaviour by cheer team members themselves that maybe haven't resulted in such a stern response. Impossible to know, I guess. This hasn't made any "Disney News" that I can find.
The punishment doesn't fit the crime IMO

I would think the alcohol part could be a good point if there hadn’t been previous fountain discussions about people putting their feet in the Cinderella fountain several years back when MK was still a dry park.

Update

They weren't disqualified.

I was honestly wondering if it was just those girls who were not the whole team. Without knowing everything about it it would depend on what role they played in terms of how bad it would be for the team. Or none of the girls were disqualified at all. Details are fuzzy on that part it seems to me.

I went down a rabbit hole earlier on Twitter, and thought the same thing. However, there are several Perfect Storm Athletics in Edmonton teams. (Lightning, Thunder, etc).

I don't know if that team was disqualified or if the parents were part of Lightning. :confused3

It is crazy what Twitter has found. There is a pic of the parents taken on the bridge as you cross over by International Gateway. Looks like the pic was taken right before the incident. You can easily see all the parents of that team were hanging around the fountain. 🤦‍♀️

That's actually sort of hard to define. I think it is generally that the fountain is a restricted place tht a guess shouldn't be in at all. Also, the posing is a tertiary and quick occurrence - it appears the fountain sitters were just hanging out. Also, the fountain folks aren't 17 years old and should know better. I admit, these are not objective and scientific determinations.
Fair enough. Between this thread, popcorn-on-the-plane mom and lawn-pooping marathoner, it's readily apparent everybody has different triggers and thresholds.

The Canadian parents were a bit tipsy and overheated. Not the worse thing I've seen in the Parks. Disqualifying these kids over this ESPECIALLY when they weren't involved? Not a good call by Perfect Storm Athletics IMO
