Hi. We will be at WDW with a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 year old. Are there things to do at Epcot for them over on the side that is not the World Showcase. I think there is plenty; dh isn't so sure. Has anyone spent a day/days there with these age children? Thanks so much

We love Epcot...it's just so neat!!! Our dd is almost 4, and we have been taking her there since she was 1.

Here's what I can think of:

Turtle talk with Crush in the Living Seas
Just watching the fish at the living seas

Spaceship Earth

Letting her get her own drinks at Ice Station Cool

Ellen's energy adventure

Trying all the things in Imaginarium

We hope to get her on Soarin' this trip.

If they like 3d shows (ours does not) the show with Figment is supposed to be cute.

Honey, I shrunk the audience

Play in the dancing waters

There is enough for her to do at Epcot to keep her happy for two days. One day, we go around and make the "masks" at all the countries, and the next day we do all the "projects" as we visit the other places. Make sure you get them to do the kids' projects in the future world pavillions as well as the WS.

Kids were the same ages on our last trip. They liked: Figment (It's not a 3-D show), Spaceship Earth, and Living Seas, especially Crush show and the Nemo room! My 4 year old liked Test Track, and there's a McDonald's type play area next door in the gift shop area of Mission: Space.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience (a 3-D Show) is too scary for many kids that age. It might make them afraid to go to other 3-D attractions.

If you have time, you can go to Future World, but our kids do like spending more time
in World Showcase, especially the Kidcot stations where they color and make masks.

By 4 my kids were riding Test Track and Soarin' as well as Figment, Living with the Land and Spaceship Earth. Look for the play area inside Mission Space and all the Kidcot stations.

They were less interested in World SHowcase but do enjoy Japan, Norway, and Mexico.

I have 2 boys--2 1/2 and 4 and we just got back. They loved Epcot. DS2 probably could have stayed in Germany all day watching the trains (DS4 liked it, too). They also liked Japan (kaki gori and the garden/ponds). They both loved Spaceship Earth. Living Seas was closed when we went. They also really liked the Land.

Yikes!!! The Living Seas is closed??!! Why?? Does anyone know when it will re-open?

My children have loved Epcot since 18 months old. I recommend it no matter how young the children are. Have a great time!

My son turned 4 while we were there, and he loved Epcot! Test Track was his favorite ride in all of WDW, hands down. He rode it at least 7 times. There are a lot of things there that he really enjoyed. I didn't plan for anywhere near enough time in Epcot.

We've been with kids 2 and 3, 4 and 5 and now 6 and 7. They have always enjoyed Epcot, though this is the first year we spent the better part of the day there. Normally its our evening park - dinner and spend some time in the WS.

Just got back with 2 five year olds and a 2 year old - all loved epcot. The 2 year old could not do test track or soarin with us, but she loved journey into the imagination and playing in imagination station. honey i shrunk the audience was definitely scary for my 5 year olds.

Yes! And my girls loved world showcase as they can work on their mask and getting the attachments at each country.

For future world--they loved any ride they were big enough for and the big exhibit hit was the Finding Nemo exhibit at Living Seas--though we nevered tried the visit with Crush which we will have to do next time. I had no idea about it and it has been raved about.

ETA: We would always pack a swimsuit for them to play in the water fountains (water jumps from the ground--I cannot recall the exact location at the moment).

When I was that age (or around it) I hated Epcot. i thought it was so boring compared to MK. Now that I'm older (I'm a big kid now!) I would be happy if I could just go to Epcot! MGM was another one I found boring when I was little, and I still do! Anywasy, i would take them, every child is unique!

My family went to WDW several times when I was a kid and my mom said Epcot was always our favourite even as little kids.

Our Dd loved epcot at 3. She played in the water any chance she got. Epcot is usually not as packed as the others and that makes it a better choice for Mondays for us. It's not our favorite but it is still Disney and that alone makes it great. MGM is our favorite but that is just us. Other people like other things. If we all liked the same attractions just think how crowded it would be at the stuff we did. Variety is a good thing at Disney. Have a magical time.

Since my DD was 9 months old, she has loved the music in Japan. Sorry I don't know the name of it - the one with the big drums. Maybe its because they make so much noise. Of course the koi pond is fun. Canada has the cut-outs you can poke your head through at the bottom.
And as always, try to find the characters. She loves to find them in the unique places, such as the courtyard for Belle and Beast, etc.
And ya gotta love the kidcot masks and passport. Don't forget that when you are all done with the mask you get a free poster!

We took DD when she was 5 and DS when he was 19 months, and DD still LOVES Epcot the best, she loves the ball (spaceship earth) Test Track, HER FAVORITE, now loves Soarin, the Lion King show, The Land, Figment, not to mention KidCot
Enjoy!!!

According to allearsnet, living seas has reopened as of 11/23/05. :cool1:

I also wanted to add that a 4 year-old would enjoy the free Nestle Jr. Chef program at the Land Pavilion if it's still being offered. There's more info on this at allearsnet, too.

Have a great trip!

:cheer2: I cannot rave enough about Epcot for toddlers/preschoolers. My boys LOVE it...both sides! My kids were ages 4 and 1 the first time we braved Epcot (I thought it would be too "boring" for little ones) but we LOVED it...it is always a "2 day" park for our family no matter how long the vacation (our boys are now 9,6 and 4). We spend hours exploring the Future Worlds and the Figment ride is GREAT for kids. It is not scary (other than a short dark span with a loud train sound which lasts for about 30 seconds tops). Be sure to spend time exploring the Kodak What If Lab on your way off of the Figment ride. It is GREAT fun for little ones. They can play music by waving their arms and make sounds by hopping and jumping from place to place. Misson Space has a neat little indoor playground. Just enter through the gift shop area. All in all we have never run out of fun things for our kids to do at Epcot...we have only run out of time to do them! :fish: Don't forget to let the kids stop in and visit with Crush!! That is AMAZING! My boys loved it and so did us parents!
