***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

So far there is no indication that this event will be held in 2008.

At the moment it's merely a carryover from the listing of 2007 events. For a while, the DIS was also carrying over references to Exquisite Evenings at Epcot. Of course, we now know there will be no Exquisite Evenings this year. The DIS only recently deleted the reference to such evenings.

When an event is confirmed, the DIS lists the event title in BLUE. Until then, it's simply a carryover from last year.

Is it my imagination or last year did Sam Adams have a pay event? I know about the freebie tasting by the American Adventure, but I thought there was another that was fairly expensive..

Sam Adams had a signature dinner featuring Jim Koch. That is not yet on the schedule for 2008 and we can't anticipate whether it will be or not at this time.

Yup, that's the one.. Thanks.
I hope to see it this year, as last year we tried to book too late.

Without being able to go back and read that last 58 pages, can someone tell me if there is a list yet of what is going to be offered for the 5 days I am going to be there... 10/24-10/28? I havent had time to keep up on the Dis because of 12hour work days the last month

PatriciaH....... have you seen any indication of dates yet? :)

NO listings for any beer dinner, tea event, EE or Signature Dinners on our list (internal website.) Only the 1 Regional Feast and the 3 Parings. :( PFTS starts October 4th.

Well, that's not what I wanted to hear!

Thanks for keeping us updated! :thumbsup2

At the festival, will Disney have a list of what's being offered at each of the food booths? Like a little printed card or brochure that we can carry around?

There is a festival guide that is a small book. They list the times of all the free seminars & culinary demos. There is a map in the middle that shows where all the food booths are and what food is served at each one.

As a first time F&W Festival goer, I must say that the experience to date has been way less than stellar.

My husband and I have been wanting to do this for years, and this has been our first opportunity. Frankly, it seems so shabby (and outrageously expensive) compared to everything I've read from previous years. The lack of information, the late booking date, the slim (and expensive) event offerings and the lack of anything "great" during the time we are there (10/1 - 10/9) have me quite disillusioned. I was so looking forward to this when I originally decided to go, but as each day passes I'm kind of wishing I would have spent the money somewhere else. But I'm locked into non-refundable air and hotel so I guess we'll be going anyway.

I am really, really miffed that Disney would take such a wonderful event and ruin it. Should've gone to the one in NY running the same dates. Who can I write to if I want to express my dissatisfaction?

Ah, thanks. As a first timer this festival guide seems especially necessary. Just one question-where do we pick up this festival guide? I'm coming in the International Gateway. Is it at the gate, food booths, or all the way in FW at the Festival Center (the old Wonders of Life building, I presume)?

Last year they had them with the park guides at both entrances to the park, as well as in the Festival Center. I also think they may have had them at the different booths as well, but I could be recalling that incorrectly.

Here is another hint for reference...the key information is posted on page one of this thread. I check it often for updates..

My memory as well, also at the times booth in the center of Future World.

The free one was hosted by a Twinings representative - not a WDW CM. Both times I did it, it was a a public relations type person - very proper, professional and well-spoken. She covered the history of tea and the history of Twinings - talked about serving kings and queens, etc. Then she covered how tea is grown, harvested, processed and blended.

I remember hearing about the different uses for tea, it's healing properties. One thing that stuck with me was the fact that green tea is no better for you than black tea. Both have almost the same amount of antioxidents.

It seems to me that the two primary differences between the free event of years past and the paid event last year were: 1. the venue was air conditioned, and 2. you got more food than a cookie.

Personnally, I liked the intimate setting of the English tea garden - even in the heat. It was quite a popular event, but at a $0 pricetag, it certainly didn't add anything to Disney's bottom line.

The last time I did it was about 2 or 3 years ago so perhaps since then it changed but that was a CM from Guest relations so I guess I lucked out. I knew more about tea than the person I had give the presentation

Yep last time I went they were here too and at the Welcome Center and available at the shop area at the entrance to World Showcase but this was 2 years ago

Hmmmmmm, nothing new yet. Too bad.

Well, it's been a real pleasure enduring the wait with you fine people. :goodvibes ;)
