We are going to WDW the week after marathon weekend. We have noon reservations for Rose & Crown. My dh and I will do one of the parks in the morning and meet my parents at the restaurant. My parents will not have been in the park before coming for lunch. We would like to ride all of the tier 1 rides. Could I make FP for tier 2 rides in the morning and just let them expire? Then when we tap a tier 1 FP after lunch make another tier 1? Any other better strategy?

Thanks!

You can make FP for tier 2 rides in the morning and when the time comes for the FP go to the ride and just tap your magic band and not ride. That is how we did 1 of ours a few weeks ago. That way we could move the other FP up to earlier times.

Yes, you can but they may or may not drop off if you just let them expire. I had a few times where it didn't. You're better of just tapping and leaving, if you don't want to actually do the Tier 2 attraction.

Also, you may not be able to get any tier 1 FP same day. Marathon weekend can be really busy.

Yes, you can definitely do this. At PP have said, sometimes the FPs don't disappear after the FP time period is over. If that happens, don't worry. Just leave them on your MDE - DON'T cancel them. Even if you can still see them, they won't block you from getting another Tier 1 FP.

Sometimes it will block you. We had that happen on our last trip. CM's couldn't really explain why it happened but said it does happen sometimes. We ended up just adding FP's for a nearby ride and tapping to get rid of it.

Getting rid of the e FPs early in the day gives you the ability to book another Tier 1 FP, 1 at a time, if any are available.
When we were there 2 weeks ago, we were able to get a Soarin FP for mid afternoon. Never saw a FP for TT or FEA ever show up. That doesn't mean they can't or won't, just not as likely.

When you say you want to ride all fo teh tier 1 rides, do you mean you and your daughter or including your parents?
If it is just the 2 of you, I would be there before RD, head to TT first, then over to Soarin. I would use my 1 tier 1 FP for FEA.

I was told it's better to FP TT as it breaks down....a lot. If it does breakdown, and you have a FP, now it turns into an anytime FP since the ride may have broken down during your FP time. If you're just at RD or SB, then you lose that opportunity and end up having to stand in line again. It was suggested that I RD FEA, then walk over to Soarin. Soarin may have a bit of a wait, but not near what it could be if it was FEA. Yes I know the rides are clear on opposite sides of the park, but I don't mind the walk myself. I'm definitely going to RD TT. But that's just me! :D:P

Thanks for all the replies. Yes my parents (and us) would like to ride all the tier 1 rides after lunch. Not sure if that's going to happen. Hopefully everyone will run the marathon and go home. :).
If I make FP for tier 2 rides and tap them off-which rides are the easiest to do that with the least amount of walking?
Thanks!!

Depends on what you use as your tier 1 FP. Nothing is close to FEA. TT has Mission Space close by.
If we FP Soarin, we usually will FP Living with the land and Spaceship Earth or Living Seas with Nemo. We would normally do those anyway, so if we use a FP, we get to adding more FPs quickly.
All of those are very close together.
If you are looking for close together, then tier 1 FP Soarin' with tier 2 Living with the land (same pavilion) and then Spaceship Earth or Living Seas. Both are good to da anyway.

Keep in mind you won’t be able to tap out for your parents at the tier 2s if they haven’t entered the park yet or their account will get flagged.

just remember...do a tier 1 first, then FP some tier 2s you might want to do. If not, after doing your 1st tier 1, tap them off and get that next tier 1. I plan on doing TT around 10 or 11. That way, if my son and I are interested, we can do Soarin' again after already doing it RD, or maybe TT again if we are lucky. I hear Soarin' is the easier of the two to get!

Seas with Nemo and Turtle Talk are near each other and would be easy to tap into and leave if you’re ok being in that area. You could even tap into Nemo and then move up turtle talk immediately because there’s a lot of availability. We had the same experience as gharter- got day of FP for Soarin after using FEA FP and 2 tier 2’s but never saw a FEA pop up and I was looking a lot.
