I tried searching for this, but kept getting server busy, so i guess i will post.
I know people have done this. I thought it would interesting to sample wine, beer, etc from each of the countries. can you let me know what you guys thought of this, and what kind of drinks they have.
thanks!!

Good wine tastings in Italy and Germany. Haven't tried France but I'm sure they do too. They have a beer tasting at England and of course the beer in Germany is first rate (according to my wife.) My favorite though is the mango margarita at Mexico. England has a full service bar though if you want something a little stronger.

they have a great wine tasting in France! Yards of beer at the Rose and Crown....beer in Germany and good ole Bud in the USA pavilion.....margarita's in Mexico....never had anything in China, Norway or Morocco that was alcoholic....

I don't know about the other countries, but the Magarita from Mexico is a must when we go to Epcot. I think my wife likes me to get it because I don't seem to complain about her shopping in WS after I have had one. :drinking1 :thumbsup2

I can only help you with Germany (my husband loves the beer there). Get him a beer and my girls and I shop. It works out pretty good.

I don't know where exactly I've heard this or where you can get this, but I've heard you can ask for "sample drinks" which are just small version of drinks from every country if you want to try to drink around the world. Most people say they have a good buzz after that, but it's doable without a hang over the next morning as long as you pace yourself. I don't think I'd make it to France if I started in Canada...ha ha ha, I'm what you call a lightweight. :rotfl:

Thanks for all your help!!
Yes Germany does have great beer!!
That sample thing sounds good! wouldn't want to get too bad. too much walking at epcot to get back to the bus/monorail!! :rotfl2:

I really like the kir royales in France. DH likes the beer in the UK. I'm not a big fan of the margaritas in Mexico, but that's because I like mine on the rocks with salt as opposed to the slushy kind. Italy has some nice wines in their little shop too.

We've done the "drink around the world" thing before, and it is a lot of fun. Just be sure to share drinks, or skip some countries. If you had a drink in every country to yourself, you'd be flat on the ground for sure!

I have done the Drink Around the World tour a few times and it can be a blast. It will certainly leave your rather intoxicated by the end, so I generally try to have dinner first and then time it do finish at park closing. My recommendation would be to sample products that you may not always associate with that country. For example, I now love German wine and Moroccan beer after enjoying them in EPCOT. It is great to sample Guinness or Bass in England and a good beer in Germany, but by trying other things you can really broaden your tastes. Just my two cents. Enjoy!

Newbie here - I am assuming you pay even for samples, is that correct?

Going to Disney and you fear that your beer options will be hopeless? Don’t fret. With a little legwork, simply by walking around the World Showcase at Disney's Epcot Center, you can try beers from all over the world!

Below is a listing of the different countries represented and the beers you’ll find:

Mexico - Mariachi music, Mexican food and Dos Equis on draught at the Cantina San Angel, at about $5.00 per cup. The Cantina is a "stand in line to get your food then find a seat" kind of establishment. Make sure to dodge the birds that are begging for nachos as you enjoy your brew. A great way to start your trip around the world!

Norway - In this area you can find a replica castle and Viking ship. While you are here, enjoy a Ringnes Pilsner on draught at the concession stand. This beer clocks in at $7.00 for the larger size, so be sure to compare the potential sticker-shock with the need to try a Norwegian beer. This beer can also be found in the Restaurant Akershus.

China - Pass through the ceremonial gate to find shops and restaurants. You will need to go to the Nine Dragons restaurant to find this country's beers: Tsingtao and Yanjing. The beers are in the $5.00 range per bottle. Nine Dragons is an upscale restaurant but don't feel bad if you go in wearing a goofy hat and fanny pack. If you would like something a little more casual you can also find Chinese bottled beer at the Lotus Blossom Café.

Germany - A Bavarian-type village setting awaits you as you enter Germany. Beck's Regular and Beck's Dark can be found prominently served at the Biergarten here for around $5.00 per cup. Be sure to check out the "local" shops to find an authentic German beer stein while you are visiting.

Italy - This area is a replication of Venice, with olive trees and an open-air market. Check out the reproduction of the Campanile Tower and grab a bottle of Peroni for $5.00 at the concession stand. There are plenty of seats in the town center in which to enjoy it.

The American Adventure USA - There is a large pavilion here where you can hear patriotic music, so grab a Sam Adams (or any of the number of US macrobrews) and toast democracy! These all-American brews can also be found at the Liberty Inn.

Japan - Beautiful Japanese gardens and a 5-story pagoda welcome you to Disney's version of the Land of the Rising Sun. While visiting the upscale hibachi-style Teppanyaki Restaurant you can enjoy a nice plum wine or sake, or try this country's beer: Kirin at $5.00 per bottle. The same beverages can be found at the Yakitori House, which is more of a counter-service establishment and at Tempura Kiku, which is a more casual hibachi restaurant.

Morocco - This area recreates the atmosphere of northern Africa. After checking out the museum or belly dancing you can find a concession stand that serves Casablanca beer at $5.00 per bottle. You can find this and other more common imports such as Heineken and Amstel Light in the Restaurant Marrakesh or the Tangierine Café.

France - Take in the sights, including a scale replica of the Eiffel Tower, street mimes and a charming array of shops and sidewalk cafes. Stop by the concession stand called Boulangerie Patisserie to enjoy a bottle of Fischer beer for $5.00.

United Kingdom - What goes better with fish-n-chips than Guinness? Grab a pint or two at the Rose & Crown pub. You can also get an "Imperial Sampler" here, which includes 5 4oz. samples of Guinness, Harp, Tennent's and Caffrey's for $8.25. There are also UK ales aplenty at Harry Ramsden's Fish and Chips. There you can find Guinness, Bass, Harp and Caffrey's in the $5.00 range.

Canada - Oh, Canada! Molson is the beer of choice here. Your options are a little better if you enjoy one with your dinner at Le Cellier Steakhouse. Unibroue beers such as Trois Pistoles, La Maudite and Blanche de Chambly are available at this restaurant, eh? They will only set you back $5.50.

Sure, maybe many of the beers you can find here can also be found at your local beer store, but perhaps they will taste a little more authentic when served by a native from that country. The good news is: every country in the World Showcase has a beer representative from that nation. All you have to do is find them! :drinking1

is tough enough anytime, but wait until EPCOT Food and Wine Festival in November and start adding 'samples' of beer from South Africa or wine from 'Chile' etc to the mixture.

Its actually called the "food and wine festival" and is loads of fun! Yes you do pay for the samples. they range from $1 - $9. If memory serves me right the wine runs about $3 a sample. The champanges were about $9.

I've drunk around the world a few times. I vaguely remember it.

If you're extra lushes you may want to settle on some house rules before embarking on the journey.

Some of our Epcot rules are fun. No one has to drink anything from the country they were born in- (presumably you know what good alcohol from your country is and odds are they don't sell it at Epcot), but you *must* drink in any country you have heritage in. I get slammed for being a mutt and must drink in Germany and Mexico. (If you hail from a country that's not represented at WS, oh well, keep drinking!)

Anyone caught not drinking in a country must get the next round unless they've already called the home country advantage rule.

No one has to drink in Norway because they cheated and switched to a beer that is not Norwegian. You must, however, sing the "Only in Kenya" song while passing the Norwegian pavillion.

Each drink ordered must be finished, but anyone in the group can finish it, so if you don't like your drink you have to find it a foster home. We leave no alcohol behind.

You can deputize a friend to do a "penalty shot" if they say/do something wrong that warrants it (bad puns, trying on a silly hat, being annoying).

If you are normally a sake drinker in Japan and are planning to ride Mission Space later that day, you're allowed to switch to plum wine or beer. But you will be laughed at.

Have a good time!

My fiance and I tried to do that last year. We did start out sharing drinks just in case one of us didn't like what we got. What ruined us, was we'd find something we REALLY liked and would keep going back. Margaritas in Mexico, the Casa Beer in Morocco is excellent! Spaten in Germany...yeah, it was tough getting all the way around the world...but it was fun trying!

We'll try again for our next trip in 06'!! :drinking1

DisneyGerry has it right, but there have been a few changes.

The last couple times we've been there (Oct was the latest) Germany no longer had Beck's. Too Bad. That was our favorite beer in Germany. :drinking1 Wife's of German heritage and loves her beer and kraut. Now you can get some nasty wheat beer or Lowenbrau (like that's german). For a while we could get Spaten but we didn't see that one in October. Too Bad. That was our second favorite German beer.

Ringnes is no longer served in Norway. Too bad. That was our favorite beer in all the world. :drinking1 Seems a Danish company Carlsburg bought them out and doesn't let it be exported anymore. Now you get Carlsburg in Norway (like Ladysoleil says).

France now also has Kronneburg 1664 (or something like that). It's pretty decent, or by the time we get to France we don't care what it taste's like.

UK no longer has Tennents. Too Bad. That was my favorite UK beer. :drinking1 Wife likes Harp and I've come to enjoy Bodingtons so it's all good. Watching British Invasion and drinking a beer....emmmm goooood.

Canada no longer serves Molson's. Too Bad. That was my favorite Canada beer. :drinking1 I've not witnessed that one yet but I've seen it on other posts. Something bout a label being offensive. Of course that might just be an urban legend. In October they had LaBatts and Moosehead.

Now the Food and Wine Festival. That is a totally new experience in drinking around the world. Can't wait til October! :drinking:

I wonder how many different varieties of beer can be enjoyed at WDW?

Surely Raglan Road has increased that by some 5 or so?

I know I have enjoyed some of the African beers at AKL: Tusker (Kenya) I think they serve Castle from South Africa?

Australian beer?

South American beer?

Maybe they need to add an Australian and a Brasilian Pavillion?

I like the idea of an Emirates or Dubai Pavillion built into the water like they are doing now in Dubai but dont think beer would be served?
