We need one dinner at Epcot for our spring trip (I know I'm planning early but once school starts I won't have the time on the boards I have now).
We have already done Garden Grill, Rose and Crown, San Angel, Le Cellier, Tutto Itallia and France. I have no desire to eat in Morocco, and DH says no way to Germany.
I have narrowed it to Teppan Edo or Coral Reef. We ate at Teppanyaki in 2002 but 2 of my kids don't remember it. DH loves aquariiums but I've always kind of shied away from Coral Reef because it gets spotty reviews.
If you had to choose one of these for a family of 5--kids will be 17, 14 and 10, all "adults"--which would you pick?

I would choose Coral Reef personally. Judging by your Ohio State garb it is obvious you have impeccable taste, so whichever you pick should be terrific.

Thanks--DH only wore matching shirts because it was my BDay and then couldn't believe how many people said "O-H" when they saw us!

I love Teppan Edo. They have the sweetest staff of all the Epcot restaruants. They are very very attentive too; your drink and food will never be empty. The food is also very very good. I have never tried Coral Reef but I have never met anyone who liked it alot.

I went to both in Oct 08. I see your issue because I thought both were terrific!

OK, so food aside here are a few things I noticed about both that may help you with your decision.

Teppan Edo - very fun, great service. The tables seat 8-10 people each. If your party is not large enough to fill the whole table, then you will most likely be seated with another party. It can be fun, but not for everyone.

Coral Reef - good service. I found this location to be louder than I thought it would be for some reason. We had a table at the back of the resturant that was horseshoe shaped. ( We had 7 adults and 2 children ) this was nice for viewing, but not so great for trying to hold a conversation. The resturant is tiered so you get to see the fish from pretty much any seat even if you are not up against the glass tank.

We thought the food at Coral Reef was good and the atmosphere is alot of fun. Its great to be able to watch the divers and try to point out all the fish that are swimming by (they give you a descriptive list of everything that is in the tank when you are seated). I think this is a must try place for the experience alone.

I have not been to Teppan Edo but going there for the first time in Nov. It has gotten pretty good reviews lately.

I think either one would be a good choice. Have a great trip!

Sigh, can't believe I am actually sharing advice with a Buckeye but here goes ;) .... I haven't been to Coral Reef because for the most part my family is not very into seafood. My sis has been twice and really liked it. Said the food and atmosphere was great. Have been to the Teppan place twice (before the rennovations) and really had good experiences there both times. It was a pricey meal however. My kids really enjoy the interactive cooking experience. Last time we made it our first night, my DD (then 13) did the pearl necklace thing in the Japan store while DS cruised the Pokemon and candy selections. We watched the drummers before dinner then after we watched Illuminations. It was a really nice start to our vacation.

About Germany, I will say it was an impromptu decision to eat there last trip. We were a bit hesitant as buffets are not our favorite but we really had a fun time there. We were seated with a nice family and the food was surprisingly good. The music and show were fun and we were glad we went there afterall. Maybe you can change your hubby's mind.

Good luck on your trip.... and by the way....

I agree wholeheartedly - on the recommendation of Coral Reef and that you obviously have impeccable taste!
We ate at Teppanyaki in 2000 and frankly, don't remember much about it - must not have been too good!;) We ate at Coral Reef in Feb 2007 and loved it. We sat right next to the aquarium and it was really beautiful. The service was great and I loved the blackened catfish with cheese grits. DH had an asian-sauced fish which no longer seems to be on the menu (per allearsnet) which was also very good. The only reason that we haven't been back and won't be back on our Dec trip is that we have traveled with MIL and SIL and they don't llike fish

Teppan Edo was delicious! This is probably one of my favs now!

can't go wrong with either one. We took our DD (4) & DS (20 months) to both last Christmas and they love it.

Teppan Edo is the only place both my DS (14 & 9) requested we go back to this year. That would be my choice.

Have not been, but wondering...how is Teppan Edo different from any other Hibachi restaurant? I imagine that they would do the standard onion volcano, shrimp toss into the hat, etc. Is there anything different?
