I am the counter service queen. I love CS places at Disney because they are so good. Not like your typical fast food joints.

I would like to start by saying that I am offended by the McDonald's French Fry stand at the edge of the world showcase. Why bother going there when you can get chips (frys for us americans) at the England CS?

Fish and Chips in England. I adore this place. The fish and chips are always delightful. My only issue with it is the lack of selection and seating. If you have picky eaters then there is no chance for everyone to be happy. Also the seating situation is extremely bad. The food however is excellent. DBF and I will share an order for a snack.

France's bakery. Everything is good here. The savory choices are delightful. The cheese plate makes a lovely low carb snack. The pizza type thing and sandwichese are great as well. I love them even more when freshly heated up for me. I am addicted to the Napoleans and the strawberry mouse. When the world goes topsy turvy and I want something else I love the eclair.

Tangerine's in Morroco. The portions here are a nice size. I like getting a platter with meat and the three sides. Although I would be content to just eat Hummus and Pita bread as well. Service can be slow moving here. There is something for everyone as there is a wonderful very american kids menu.

Japan. I wish they had Fried Rice. I love the cuteness of this little counter service stand. The food is good. The portions are ok. They offer iced green tea. WOOT! Service is typically faster than most.

The Dessert Stand in Italy. OMG The Tiramisu. Cheaper than Alfredo's and about the same portion. It is served to you in a plastic cup instead of vitrified china. You have to find a place to sit or walk and eat it but who cares?

Norway's Bakery. I never eat here but I can tell you the stuff looks Good. By the time I get to Norway I have over enduldged in Italy and France. I promise to start on the otherside so I can try the goodies in Norway next week. I can tell you the staff was very nice in there. They thought it was funny that I could not figure out what it was that I wanted and therefor needed to not eat anymore dessert. I am sure they could smell the Tiramisu on my breath. :P

Counter Service in Mexico. If you like real Mexican skip this counter service stand. If you like bland then go for it. No real spice to the tacos. I do adore the orange frozen drink thingy here. They also have the all important margaritas. Great spot to watch the fireworks but you have to stake out your table way ahead of time. There is no seating to be found if you are eating after 8 PM.

Electric Umbrella. This is not bad. There is just so many awesome counter service places at Epcot that I often feel like why bother? EU is great for those with super picky eaters though. Very basic americanized food.

Eating at the Land. This is a food court style place. Seating is good. Completely indoors. Lots of AC and it is on the bottom floor. The food is good. The desserts are ok. It is perfect for families where everyone wants to eat something different. Everyone gets their food and then they pay at once. This is greatly improved over the old food section at the Land. The selection of offerings is huge. This is also the most diet friendly counter service in the park.

I think for some families, the Refreshment Port with McDonalds food is a good find. Often, kids just want familiar chicken nuggets and fries and don't want the "chips" from the UK stand. And for those on the DDP, it is a great value for the CS credit (9 nuggets, large fry, drink and McFlurry). This is easily shared between two kids.

I think that for the most part, if you look around, you can find plenty of counter service that doesn't serve just plain burgers or chicken fingers. EPCOT certainly has more than most because of the countries.

Definitely try Kringla (the Norwegian bakery). We love the "ris krem" (rice cream), it's our favorite dessert in EPCOT. It's like a rice pudding topped with a strawberry jam.

Thank you for the excellent CS summary. We have not tried Tangerine Cafe before but may well on our next trip.

Let's not forget the school bread in Norway! Way yummy!

I find the food way better than average. And the desserts are way better than just OK - they have a mini key lime pie, personal sized but giant, if you know what I mean, that is affordable and delicious.
