We're doing our trip on a budget and were looking for some advice on cheap eats at Epcot. In looking at the menus on Debs site, it looks like the Refreshment Port (McDonald's) doesn't serve burgers, only nuggets & fries for meals.

Any other ideas?

Hi Mark-

I hear ya about the budget trip! My DH and myself are heading out tomorrow (didnt even have time to add a countdown clock!) and I was checking out menus for cheap eats myself. I am planning on the Electric Umbrella in FutureWorld and sharing a meal with some extra pineapple coleslaw. It is going to be hot so I am sure our appetites wont be too big.

I would think if you shared some meals that you could really hit any of the counter service places. Also consider ordering kids meals for some adults! I always do and there is plenty of food.

Have a wonderful trip!:wave2:

We get a plate of food at Tangerine Cafe for around $11 and share it between DH and I with extra bread.

:hyper:

You won't find any really cheap eats in WDW but that being said:

We did find reasonable price food at the food court in the Land. We also all ordered kids meals at Electric Umbrella. DH and I usually order kids meals at the counter service places unless we are going to split the meal and so far have never been questioned about it.

You can also get resonable price items at the counter service places at several of the countries - We have shared items at England, Mexico and Norway.

Have done the budget trip several times in the past and just got semi-healthy snacks and ate breakfast and dinner outside Disney.

Hope you have a great time.

DH and I have ordered the kids meal from the counter service place in Mexico! You get a small burrito, chips & salsa, and a soft drink for $3.49! :)

Even the adult meals there aren't too expensive - you can get a taco platter for $6.99!

In Germany you can get a brat w/saurkraut at the counter service place. I don't remember how much it is, but they're very big and I'm sure they're not over $4.

The Lotus Blossom Cafe in China is very reasonable too! Two egg rolls are $3.19 and they're very good, IMHO!

I think there are better cheap eats in Epcot than the other parks because most of the countries have counter service, so you pay a "cheap" price and get something other than a hamburger or chicken nugget like the other parks.

Mexico and China both have reasonably priced counter service, as does Japan. China and Japan are both air conditioned eateries, if I remember right ;) A/C is a PLUS for me ;)

In the Land, the food court is nice, too, and air conditioned! I had their kids meals there and there was plenty of food to eat for me.

Or, you could just SNACK your way through =) Beaver tail, funnel cake, pretzel, popcorn, brat, nachos, etc...

ENJOY!

I think one of the best deals is at the food court in The Land. You can get a good-sized cheese & bacon baked potato, side salad & chocolate chip cookie combo for under $6.50. It's always been good, too.

I thought the Plato Combanacion at the Cantina de San Angel was good and could be split between 2 people.

I second the World Showcase counter service places and ordering the kids meal. Also try getting FishnChips in the UK, with a beer and catching a show of the British Invasion. We always do this.

We also liked the Land, we got the baked potato, salad, cookie and it was great! we will eat there again.:earseek: good food for a fair price.

The Liberty Inn has hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc. The kids meal with either a hot dog or chicken nuggets is $3.49.

The Lands always worked on our family trips for food assortments. The counter serves in Mexico is a good choice too. Also do not forget the Fish and chips counter service located by the Rose and Crown in England. Always a good value for the amount of food you get.( one more day to go....BOY AM I EVER GETTING HUNGRY!!!)

The fish and chip fast food place is my favourite for cheap eats. The food at Yakitori house in Japan is also reasonable and very filling.

BTW I love your avatar Seatle Mark :wave2:

I agree - Epcot is the best park for cheap eats. Followed by AK....
My favorites are Yakatori House in Japan, Cantina San Angel in Mexico & The Land in FW....

Another vote for the kids' meal in Mexico -- you even get a drink for under $4. I do sometimes splurge and get cheese sauce or guacamole for the chips.

If you want to stick to counter service in Epcot, I suggest the following .....

The bakery in France as a fabulous ham/cheese croissant, quiche and cheese/fruit platter. And of course the desserts.

The bakery in Norway has a selection of sandwiches -- smoked salmon, turkey breast, ham/cheese and salads. And of course desserts.

The Yakatori house in Japan -- is very reasonable and you get a lot. It's overlooked by many people because its not near the other shops/restaurants in Japan.

Just a suggestion, but I find when you do the math, a counter service restaurant can end up more money than taking advantage of the luncheon specials at a sit-down restaurant.

Chef de France has a lunch special for $14.95. Soup, Salad, a Sandwich and dessert. You could make this your big meal of the day.

Just chiming in to mention that Yakatori's menu "morphed" a bit lately. No longer do they serve the Yakatori (believe it or not.) The Shogun combination and Tonosama combination now come with Sukiyaki beef - which is shredded beef that is filled with fat - very unappetizing to us HUGE (but former) Yakatori House fans.

The counter service restaurants in all of the countries at Epcot is very reasonably priced. ::MickeyMo
