EoS, RFC, AMC, ESPN Closure Date (6/30/18)

yep....same folks who told us that build a bear was closing in in October of 2017.....vegas setting odd on Rainforest vs Bugsland....either way they are cutting down the foliage.

The Orange County Register is reporting that Earl of Sandwich, Rainforest Cafe, AMC movie theater, EPSN and other businesses west of the Lego store are closes on June 30 to make way for the new Disneyland hotel. I have to admit, that's sooner than I expected!

I was expecting around then with the announcement of summer 2018 and knowing that the last day of live music on the stage in that area is suppose to be he Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

Actually, it says they must be closed by June 30. Doesn't give exact closing dates, so it could be anytime between now and June 30, which is really frustrating for us traveling in that time.

One reporter said closing AMC made perfect sense as nobody goes to Disneyland to go to the movies. I can't speak for the west coast, but the AMC theater at Disney Springs is the most popular theater in all of Florida.

I've actually went to this theater. We were there for a 10 day trip and we're feeling pretty burned out so, we skipped a park day and went to the movies. It was great to just be able to relax.

The movie theater is usually busy when I am there. Granted, I tend to visit the parks on the busiest days. Movies are always sold out when I want to go to one. Rainforest Cafe has never had that great of service or food to me (neither has any other DTD restaurant), but it's been a fairly regular place for us. I'll be sad to see it go. There was another in Costa Mesa, but I looked it up and I guess it already closed down a while ago.

I was told AMC employees were told yesterday their last day will be within the first two weeks of June. No exact date was shared with us.

Just spoke with someone at RFC. They were told closing needed to be between June 17th and 24th. She couldn't guarantee they would still be open on the 17th.

This will be our 1st trip to DL, so what happens doesn't affect me, but from the artwork, I think this is hideous. The hotel looks ugly as sin, and to get rid of 2 of the most popular family restaurants just seems idiotic to me.

Soooooo frustrated. I have a car rental reservation at that Alamo location to return on July 1! This suuuuuuccccckkkkkkks! I'm not sure what to do.

Ugh, I was really hoping that Rainforest would still be open during our 4th of July trip. :(

Disney only collects rent from these places. They don't care if it's a popular restaurant. Pretty sure they would rather guests ate at their restaurants. They'll make more money from the new hotel with added shopping and restaurants they own. Perhaps Earl of Sandwich and Starbucks will be located in the new hotel. Honestly Rainforest Cafe is a neat concept, but the food is more overpriced than the parks and not very good. It's a fun place but you pay a pretty penny to eat there.

It's possible that they could relocate to some other place in DTD, but I would contact Alamo and find out what will happen with your existing reservation.

There is an Alamo on Katella next to candy cane inn so I could see Alamo having the DTD reservations and drop offs moved to the other location.

CCI is behind it on the map.

But IRL, CCI is next to the A-Mart on Harbor. The south side of the CCI may back the Alamo parking lot, but I don't think you can access Alamo from that hotel. We've not seen an entrance to the Alamo office or a path from the CCI on any of our stays (but, to be fair, we haven't looked for one). I looked on the Alpine Inn website, and their map has Alamo right next door on Katella (enlarge the map about 3 or 4 times: http://www.alpineinnanaheim.com/contact-us/location-a-map.html).

Ok, I knew there was one on katella. CCI was the nearest landmark that popped up on the map.
