Environmental laws???

Wow - I had no idea it was a law! But I'm such a cheapskate that I turn my car off when I'm in line at the drive through :rotfl2:

I read that if you idle for more than 30 seconds, it's more efficient to stop the car and restart it again. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of this but I guess it makes sense.

We had a patient today who came in for her appt. As she was leaving, she was fussing because she couldn't find her car keys. All of a sudden she said "oh that's right, I left them in the car! I left it running with the air conditioning on for the dogs" My jaw dropped. She was luckily in and out of her appt. within a half-hour but at times we do have longer waits. And I guess her car was unlocked all that time while running since her keys (and her dogs) were inside it!

Some folks really have no common sense whatsoever.:sad2:

OP - it wasn't the Swartswood post office by chance was it? I drive by there every morning and see a sign they put up in the window that is hand written talking about how exhaust fumes are hazardous to their health and to turn off your engines

Nope - we live in Central Jersey. I can't believe a post office is allowed to put up such a sign, being a official government office, but its good!

Lots of places have rules about this, and yes, it's generally a safety issue and not an environmental one. A car is a deadly weapon. Do you leave loaded guns out where kids can find them on the street? Then don't leave your car running.

I always leave my loaded guns on the front porch. Is that wrong?? :confused3

I don't leave my car unlocked when I'm not in it, except for maybe in my own driveway. There are no kids in my driveway and I really doubt any are going to huff it up my driveway to climb in my car. I don't know many people that leave the car running and don't lock it (we take the clicker or have an extra key or keypad on the car)... maybe it's just a Jersey thing :rotfl: We lock everything :lmao:
