I have only used the DDP once. I have a trip planned for 2017. As I was planning my adr's I started considering Yachtsman Steakhouse as we are staying Beach Club. I noted the disney page said meals range from #35-$59.99 per adult. There are entrees that cost up to $145. Now Im confused. Are there entrees excluded from the DDP? How do I differentiate the included vs. excluded entrees? Last time I was there I didnt realize anything was excluded.

As a signature restaurant participating in the Disney Dining Plan, Yachtsman Steakhouse is a 2-credit table service restaurant. Consider Tables in Wonderland for a better discount if you enjoy fine dining.

This might be an incomplete list of 2 credit table service restaurants that come to mind.
Jiko
Flying Fish Café
California Grill
Cítricos
Narcoossee’s
Artist Point
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Le Cellier Steakhouse
Monsieur Paul
The Hollywood Brown Derby
The BOATHOUSE
The Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck
Fulton’s Crab House
Morimoto Asia

There are a very few entrees that are not included on DDP, or, more to the point, are included but require a surcharge. Typically this involves Wagyu beef (or some similar extreme gourmet item) and the current rule of thumb at signature restaurants is that any entree over $75 would likely require a surcharge for the exotic ingredients.

YSH had a porterhouse steak for 2 which $120.00ish on our visit in October so that would be 4 TS credits. Plus they had 2 Kobe steaks that had an add-on charge when using dining plans credits. I find the menus listed here at www.wdwinfo.com and those at www.www.allears.net good guides to use. The Disney website is hit or miss with their info.

Thanks faldred, you are the closest to helping me. I am aware that this is a two table service credit restaurant. I don't think table service credits have anything to do with my question. So I think the lobster was $63 does that mean that since the range was up to $59.99 that the lobster is excluded? When you say surcharge do you mean the difference?

That makes sense, any time it says "for two" I would imagine you double the credits

Surcharge means an additional charge if using the DDP.

For YSH, it's the 5 oz Wagyu Strip Loin $125 or DDP+$76. Surcharges also apply to Enhancements and Sides.

The 1.5 Lb Live Maine Lobster is included on the DDP for 2 TS credits.

THANK YOU!

The range is irrelevant.

Disney tries to help you out by giving an indication of the average meal price.
$ = up to $15
$$ = $15 to $35
$$$ = $35 - $60
$$$$ = $60 and above

Those ranges have no impact on the value of the dining plan, nor do they actually tell you how much a meal will cost. There are fixed price meals that cost $37, so the restaurant shows $$$ ($35-$60) and people ask, "how do I know how much it costs?" and "does that mean the adult price is $60 and the kids price is $35?" No, it's just the general category for the restaurant.

Yes but yachtsman listed it's range from 35-59 but there were entrees over $100...not even close to the range, that's what confused me

Yeah, just ignore the ranges. I've never had a meal on the DDP that required a surcharge. They exist (as stated above), but they are very, very few and far between.

As I said, "average meal price." They have two entrees below $35. The range is intended to be a general guide for the class of restaurant. It's not specifically tied to their menu.

The UK site lists the following clause for Dining Plans
http://www.disneyholidays.co.uk/walt-disney-world/dining-plans/
Signature Restaurants require the redemption of two waiter service meals per guest. Items on the menu that exceed $40.00 ($75.00 in Signature Restaurants) may not be available for a waiter service meal without payment of a surcharge.
The PDF also lists
Additional Charges
Prix fixe menus and certain select menu items require payment
of an additional amount in addition to redeeming the number of
Table-Service entitlements required at the location.

So if an entree is over $75 then assume you will be paying extra for it. Unless it is marked for two to share in which case you can use double credits to order it.

I thnk Yachtsman is pretty much the only place with a lot of $100 entrees though.
