I read somewhere that if you're staying on Disney property, you can catch the monorail at the Downtown Disney station and enter in through Tomorrowland. Is that true and if so, how does it work?

It's true. The monorail opens when the park opens.

I don;t know if this is a common occurrence, but on our resent trip the monorail from DTD to TL was closed more than it was open, never had a problem going from TL to DTD though.

How does entrance to the park work. Do they check your ticket before you get on the monorail or after you get off? Also, is it a non-stop ride to Tomorrowland or do you stop at the main gate entrance to DL 1st?

They check your ticket before you get on the monorail. It goes direct to Tomorrowland. As a matter of fact it only makes two stops, Down Town Disney and Tomorrow Land if I remember correctly.

The monorail has two stops. The main one is in Tomorrowland, as it is an attraction at Disneyland. The other stop is at Downtown Disney, next to the Rainforest Cafe.

When you go up to the monorail station at Downtown Disney you will see a table, and that is where security does a bag check. Once you go through back check you give your ticket, just like at the main entrance, and go through the turnstyle. You then go to the upper level where the monorail boarding area is located.

Also, just wanted to add that you don't have to be staying on Disney property to take the monorail in. Anyone with a valild DLR ticket can use it.
