Entertainment Schedules in May

I'm planning a trip to Disneyland and CA Adventure in mid May 2011, but looking at the May 2010 entertainment schedule it looks like they don't have Fantasmic or the Electrical Parade operating during mid-May...even on the weekend. Can you only see these events if you go during the crowded summer months?

Also, when did World of Color open? Its not on the May 2010 schedule, but I'm guessing that's because it didn't exist yet. Anyone know what months WOC will be operating in 2011?

1) Electrical parade normally shows during summer and peak Xmas weeks. Right now its in WDW and I'm not sure when (if) its coming back.

2) In 2010 F! was on refurb until Memorial Day weekend due to the ROA being drained.

3) WOC didn't start until June that's why its not on the May 2010 schedule. I will be showing in May. For the foreseeable future its playing nightly, not sure about May but at least on the weekend.

You really can't plan that far out. DCA will be getting a new parade, sometime. WOC isn't on a set schedule until is see some offseasons and holiday periods.

All you can really count on is that in the offseason their are less show on weekdays.

1) I wish they would show the Electrical parade more frequently, it was my daughter's favorite when we visited last summer, but I can't bear those crowds again.

2) So, was F! only not running in mid-May this year because of the refurbishment? Does it usually run during May?

3) Since the Disneyland website does not put their official schedule up until a couple months in advance, I wonder if the WOC schedule for mid-to-late September 2010 (after school starts) will be similar to what they would have mid-May. Right now, the week of Septmeber 19th - 25th has Fantasmic and fireworks on weekends, and WOC daily.

Also, I was considering going on a Sunday thru Wednesday in May to include one weekend day so we could see Fantasmic/fireworks. But it looks like they also do those things on Fridays. Now I'm wondering if we should go Tuesday thru Friday. Fridays and Sundays seem to have the same hours. Are Fridays more crowded than Sundays?

Anyone have a reply as to which day of the week is typically busier...Fridays or Sundays?

As related by 3Minnies, it is not clear if DEP is ever coming back to DCA. There have been rumors it will be back in Spring 2012 after all the DCA refurb is done and a new parade route is in place.

On weekends, yes. Normally Fantasmic runs year round. Last year it was the Rivers of America refurb upon which F! depends. Disney took that time to improve F! too with the Murphy mechanical dragon among other things.

No one knows. I think most of us DLR vets expect World of Color will run year round for the first year. DLR may decide in early 2011 when it is off-season to only run on weekends like fireworks and Fantasmic. It really depends. Also, with the Little Mermaid ride opening in May 2011 (rumor) that may affect the World of Color schedule in 2011. :confused3

We are pretty sure WOC will operate next May on weekends at minimum.

Sundays are usually the most crowded. Friday nights are crowded but usually not so much in the day. I would choose Friday over Sunday myself - hands down. Even more, since Saturday is an AP blockout day I would choose Wed-Sat for a four day trip in off-season to give you two weekend nights. :teacher:

Is there a specific date listed for the "expected" opening of the Little Mermaid ride? Assuming it opens on schedule, I'd hate for it to be the week we are there.

But aren't Saturdays the most crowded day of the week? Isn't that why Saturday is a blockout day to begin with? Is a Tuesday non-blockout day more crowded than a blocked out Saturday?

Actually no. The million AP holders - of which many are blocked on Saturdays - tends to swing this. As for Tuesdays vs. Saturdays, and APs blocked, it depends on time of year. In June I would stick with blocked Saturdays over unblocked Tuesdays. In May maybe not. :)
