I really want to stay there! From all of the posts I have read it sounds AWESOME! My problem, I am moody when I go on vacation. I must have quiet time which means being able to go in a room and close the door and have a few minutes alone to myself. I can't do that in a standard room at the PBH. I could do that in a Kidssuites but they are too expensive. Its either that or a 2 bedroom resort at Sunterra Cypress Resort. What should I do? Is there an entertainment rate for Ksuites at PBH? Is it worth the extra money? We are going in May 2003. Please help!

If you need quiet time, just tell everyone to go out for an hour or two. There is plenty to do at Universal and the hotel has pools and a game room. Even getting from PBH to the parks is so easy and takes a few minutes. You might even find yourself just wandering off to sit by a fountain for some quiet time! PBH is a beautiful hotel, very peaceful. Grag a cup of coffee and find a bench outside! I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how relaxing this place can be.

A agree with Crazyme4kids! PBH is quite calm -- you can easily find a place to sit and relax. You will love it!!

antmaril,

I think you lost one of crazy me's kids!:p

devotedchristian,

Get a deluxe and retreat to the spacious bathroom for a nice long bath:) I swear you could bring a bed in there!
I agree with the others, you can always find a tranquil "alone" spot on the grounds.

Good Luck!

In the deluxe room:bounce: how big are the bathrooms? is there a tub/shower combination or are they seperate? I mean can one person take a shower and another person take a bath? Also, can you please tell me about the club level rooms? What are they like?

An excellent place to relax alone is the plunge pool in the villa pool area. It has seats and 4 small fountains spraying into it and is surrounded by beautiful landscaping. I never saw anyone in it. Except me:D

We had a deluxe pool view room at PBH and the bathroom was huge. Yes, there is a separate shower and tub.

By the way, I agree with the above poster that the plunge pool at the Villa Pool was a very quiet area.

They don't offer club level rooms at Portofino. They do at Hard Rock and Royal Pacific.

Here is a picture of the bathroom at Portofino (deluxe poolview).
The tub is not shown but is on the opposite side of bathroom furthest from the shower.

I found this picture at resorts great hotels

I was offered an entertainment rate for a kidsuite, but can't recall if it was HRH or PBH. I believe it was $349 per night (I wasn't paying too much attention as it was just too far out of budget!). The rate was good for the first week of April, 2003.

I've heard that sometimes (but not always, and should never be counted on too much!) an upgrade is available on a deluxe room at PBH, which gives you a "parlour". You have your deluxe room, plus a living room with pull-out sofa, 2nd tv and (bonus!) a second bathroom. I'm not sure if it's just luck of the draw or if what, but I believe it helps to be a Loews First member.

If I'm incorrect, please, someone correct me. This is just what I've heard, and is not first hand experience.
