We are booked for HIFS at the end of November, with the Entertainment book rate. At MouseSavers.com, Mary says that the 2004 book is good through November 1. Since my stay is at the end of November, do I have to wait to buy the 2005?

Yep.
To be honest, you may never be asked for the card; we weren't asked on either of our two stays. However, I wouldn't take the chance. The $25 or so for the book is well worth the savings you will get out of it.

Does anyone know when the 2005 books go on sale?

How do you buy one for Orlando if you don't live there (or in Florida)?

For the hotel discounts, you don't have to ahve the Orlando one. The card is the same , so you can get a local one.

Keep checking Mary's site. You can usually get a discount on the book through her.

Since the card is the same, can you use it for restaurants in any location?

I'll be there Oct 30th using the entertainment rate. On the actual card it says it expires November 1st. My stay is Oct 30 - Nov 4. Can I use the current card even though it expires during my stay?:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

If it were me I would contact the hotel and ask the question. You can contact Entertainment BUT they are just vendors of the book and the retailers in it can pull or change their minds for any reason. Contact the hotel, if they say you can use the coupon then get a name and ask them to put it in writing. The retailers just pay a flat rate to be in the book it is kind of like advertising. Also I would check out the free Orlando Magic card at their site. Sometimes, they have the same deals as Entertainment and the card is free!! We used it numerous times last year.

Mike, just call the Entertainment people and they will tell you. Go on line to their site and get their 800 number.

No the cards are specific to the area bought for the restaurants, but the hotels are part of the travel benefit and you can have the card from any area for the travel.

Kathy

I was about to post the same question, as we will be there at the same time - I was hoping to get a good rate at a Universal hotel. Are you planning on the same thing. If you are looking to book soon - please let me know how you get on.

The cards for all locations are grey with 2004 on them. I bought two books and have two cards. This works wellfor the expensive shiny paged restaurants in the front of the book. When you use the card they punch a hole in it. They don't know if the card is local. They just punch the number. This second card comes in handy for my local restaurants. I get to have a lunch or dinner free twice in lovely upscale restaurants. This more than pays for the extra book. I bought the Orlando book using a link on Mousesavers for $15 and my local NJ book from my grandson for $35. I know I could have gotten the NJ book for less than half but the school gets the money from fund raising. I use the coupon pages from the Orlando book while down there and send it along with friends when they go. Sometimes my books go to Orlando 7-8 times per year. When I am sure I won't be using the Orlando book any longer I send it to the first person on the disboards who will pay the postage to ship it to them. Last year I sent it to a group of seniors who had a Disney trip planned in late October. They used many, many of the half off coupons.

What is HIFS? Where do I find a list of abreviations?

Sue, HIFS said its okay to use the Entertainment card that expires Nov 1st since I'll be checking in October 30th. But, I still have to call RPR. I'm doubting it though. My checkin date is 11/5 and since the card expires Nov 1st.....I think I have to buy an entertainment book for 2005. That's okay, someone is always selling them in my neighborhood. I'll try to remember to PM you after I call RPR.

Now think we may go for 11/1 to 11/3 - 3nights - since I read a post that it was more expensive to stay at RPR on weekends - don't know if this is always the case but it makes sense.

If you find out I'd be grateful for a pm.

Thanks again.

Just to let everyone know I used the card from my Mass. book to get a bogo in NH . It worked no problem. I am so mad I have gotten two books in the past and never knew the cards were interchangable. This makes it much easier to get my moneys worth since I have three books and there are 4 places in one book that we go all the time. I will easily save the original 45.00 investment after less than 3 visits. The rest will be gravy. Considering the amounts on the restaurants I use are between 15-18 dollars I am looking at 90.00 (and that is backing out the 45 for the original investment)savings without even batting an eyelash. It makes it much more woth my while ot get the orlando book since I can save an additional 60 there without any effort.
Thanks for the tip.
