Entering GCH from PPH

I read about the changes to security and how PPH guests can't cut through GCH anymore. But then later I read that they were allowing anyone with a Disneyland Resort Hotel room key to enter through the front doors of the GCH but not the people walking from other hotels.

The walk to the parks isn't a huge deal to us, BUT our touring plans usually include touring from around 7am- noon, back to the hotel from around noon to six, and back to the parks for the evening. We usually like to send someone to Whitewater Snacks during that break. I will be so sad if we can't do that or if we have to go through DTD to get there. Is this permitted if we have no intention of entering the parks that way? Also, if not....is there anywhere at the DLH that is comparable?

I hadn't heard they were allowing people from the other Disney hotels to start cutting through again. I really felt all along it was rude of them to treat PPH guests the same way they were treating offsite guests. But they didn't ask me. :p

If you don't care for the arrangement, I suggest you email Disney and let them know. I did right after the new system rolled out.

What I had heard was that the real issue was in the mornings, so maybe they let up later in the day? Maybe you can pick up your Whitewater snacks on your way back to PPH? It's never been a problem entering GCH from the parks or DTD side, only entering the front doors.

If you asked my daughter she would ask what the heck you are doing wasting an opportunity to eat at Earl of Sandwich. I told her the other day we would likely have to go through security to get to EOS next time. Not surprisingly, she didn't care. She'd eat there 3 times a day if I let her. :rotfl:

We were there a couple of weeks ago and PPH guests weren't allowed to walk through the GCH. Day and night they had a Security guard or two there and a big sign. I also believe the GCH guests keys have a slightly different look/color so they can tell if you try to be sneaky. But on the way back to the Hotel you could cut through to leave.

I agree that it is a little dumb to treat PPH guests this way, but going through security near the DLH wasn't bad, it was better then the old security check points.
Although we usually have our first meal of the trip over at StoryTellers Cafe so it was annoying to have to walk all through DownTown Disney when really it wasn't that far away.
And overall it does mean more walking.

My understanding is that if you have an ADR they will let you in.

You can still exit through GCH. Stop at WWS on your way back to PPH.

Thanks for this. I have an ADR at PCH Grill in PPH am not staying at either hotel and was planning to cut through GCH from DTD to PPH to get there.

You can do this. You can exit thru GCH, you just cannot enter this way. They will stop you at the crosswalk.

I had a reservation at PCH Grill and wanted to cut through GCH, but they would not let me; had to walk back to DTD. They will probably let you in if you have a reservation at Storytellers.

Kriss :tink:

Yeah, sorry to get your hopes up. I meant an ADR at GCH somewhere.

Thanks for the info, we will be staying at PPH in December and I had no idea that they were not allowing guests to cut through.

You can exit DTD and DCA into the Grand and cross to PPH. You just cannot enter thru the Grand. So, going back to PPH is the same, to enter the park, you will need to go to security by Earl of Sandwich.

Where did you read it? And why would one do that? I mean, I once stayed in Frontier Tower and we mapped it from there to the center of the esplanade via the Grand, vs there through DLH property through DTD to the center of the esplanade, but it wasn't really different.

I think I read it on here---but it wasn't within it's own thread---more like someone just discussing it. So now, of course, I can't find.

I don't think the DLH people would want to cut through the GCH, but the PPH people sure do. :)
