Thanks! :) It's with Ritz Camera Shops.

Thank you all so much!

I liked the watcher in the woods, too. They are all so beautiful!
You are a great photographer. Want to come take pictures of the kittens?

Lisa

I had to vote for Watcher because it just struck me. All the pictures are awesome, but Watcher casued me to take a second look.

GREAT photos!!! Tough choice, but I voted for Flowers & Leaves...I think the color contrast is amazing and A Perfect Sky would be my second choice.

Good luck w/ the contest!!!!!

Thank you all!!!

I have decided :

Monty
Flowers & Leaves
Watcher

:)

Getting copies of the photo's printed up today and mailing them off to the contest!

guess I voted to late, I like Monty rides the rail

E, I only voted for 2. Flowers and Watcher.

2) Good composition and good colors.

4) Good composition

The reasons I didn't vote for any of the others are:

1) Monty Dog (and even though he's cute) is out of focus. If he's the main subject, he should be in focus. Otherwise it's an excellent composition.

3) I would have liked to seen the end of the rainbow at the ground where it normally ends and a more interesting foreground subject than the top of a tree.

5) The subject is interesting but the background (house siding) does not work well. That's the problem with having flowerbeds along side the house.

Thanks. Those are actually my exact same reasons for doubting #1 & #5. I have my own issues with #3 (IMO, it's pretty but anyone can take a picture of a rainbow and have it look pretty)

I LOVE the shot of Monty but there are a lot of technical things wrong with it from a judges viewpoint.

although it seems to be too late to vote,

I voted for
1. Monty
2. Watcher
3. Other

1. Although there will be other animal shots, how many people get a shot of a doggy engineer...

I like the fact that Monty is in soft focus, it lends to an air of mystery, it's not clear what Monty is thinking as he looks out over the countryside....

2.Watcher speaks for itself...

3. the other shots though great are common,,I like some of your cemetary shots better...

Ok, I voted for flowers and leaves... I'm looking at it from a 'photographers eye' and of course, this is just my opinion and I may be being TOO critical but these are the kinds of things *I* would look for in a photo... but take it for what it is worth:

1) Monty is a little out of focus, the train is in focus. I think that makes the viewer concentrate on the train versus the dog (which really should be the focus) and could be distracting to some. Even with that, I would list this as my #2 favorite.

2) Flowers and leaves. Simple, colorful. Doesn't really tell a 'story' but it is well framed and has great depth. #1 for my vote.

3) Perfect Sky - Great picture, great color, but there is an artifact of some sort in the upper left corner (spot on the lense?).

4) Watcher in the Woods - Great framing, good use of light, but I kinda think there is too much 'dark' making it more 'blah'. There is a spot on the lower right corner that looks like something on the lense again, but could just be the ground coloring. I wouldn't know without seeing the full resolution image. I would say this picture would be my 3rd choice.

5) After the Rain - Awesome flowers, the rain drops add a lot, but the house behind takes it away. The flowers are very 'natural' but the house throws off the composition. This would be a very very good photo if there were some trees or bushes in the background.

I voted for Watcher. Give me a mystical light(or illusion thereof) anytime & I'm all for it!

However, all of your pictures are beautiful!

Hey, Sheri, did you ever think about writing a children's book using Monty's pictures or perhaps a calender with 365 Monty's thoughts of the day? You seem to be really good at thinking of those & Monty Dog is certainly very marketable! I would buy it and I'm sure there are many others that would as well!

Have a great day!

Thank you for your input. Yes, the spot that was on the lense bugs me too. And the focus issue with Monty's picture. Watcher looks a lot better, IMO, when it is printed as a regular picture. As a digital file, I find that some monitors settings make it appear very, very dark. For instance, at home it looks very clear and light to me, but at work I can barely see it. As a printed file, it is actually a lot lighter.

Thank you all for your input; I really appreciate it!

I took the liberty of lightening this one a little, is this closer to the way you print it...??
