Does anyone have recommendations for making incoming bell service (luggage, grocery delivery) a pleasant and timely experience? I have read from a variety of sources, including these boards, that the bell services at CBR are really hit and miss. This is our first trip to Disneyworld as a family (was last here in 1990 and have been to Disneyland with the kids 4x in the last 7 years.) DisneyLAND bell services across all onsite hotels have always been excellent, so this a bit concerning and surprising. Getting our luggage into our room as early as possible (we land at 4:30pm this Saturday) and getting organized that first night is key.
We are picking up our own luggage at MCO to help facilitate this, then hopping on Magical Express. We will also have 4 - 5 bags and a big container of bottled water waiting for us in bell services from Garden Grocer. Given that we'll get to CBR about 6 - 7pm, we should likely receive a text saying our room is ready.
I envision bypassing check in completely at Custom House and making a beeline to bell services with our luggage (3 large suitcases.) I plan to tip $20 in fives and ask that our luggage and groceries be delivered to our room as soon as possible. Once delivered, there will be another $20 tip because I know that's a lot to haul with the groceries added on.
Are these tips appropriately sized for the work, and is this the right approach? Would they expect a call from me from the room to say we're there before they start (we'll walk or shuttle it depending on our energy; we'd like to walk the resort.) Any other recommendations?
