Just getting ready to book our flights so we thought we would start looking for villas.

We sent for a quote for 2 weeks next May to a villa owner only to be told "Thank you for your interest in our villa.
Unfortunately we are not taking bookings this far ahead, and will probably start quoting for your dates after the summer.

I have never heard that one before, especially during a recession. :lmao:

Oh well - there are thousands of villas available so we will cross this one off our list. :confused3

Hmm, that is strange :confused3

You would have thought they would have wanted to snap up a booking straight away!

How weird!

We e-mailed loads of villa owners back in January/February for August 2013 and not once did we get a response like that! They were all really happy to accept a booking!

The fact that they were all so accommodating made choosing one even more difficult!

xx

i booked mine for next october a year ago.... whereabouts are you looking to stay (geographically)?

I'm glad its not just me. Why it took him 3days to answer with that I don't know. This villa is in Windsor Palms but we are looking all over.

I always stay here, currently they are clear for those dates but maybe a little farther out from WDW than you'd like to be?

Most villa owners actually want business and will accept bookings as far ahead as you want to book them - while most use the villa as a second home they use rentals to cover the costs, and VERY few actually make a profit from it because of the various fees etc, until they're mortgage clear anyway!

Perhaps they want to keep their options open in terms of they might want to use the villa themselves :confused3 Seems a bit odd though :goodvibes

We have made firm bookings for both Easter and August 2013 :woohoo:

Ali :goodvibes

Or they are planning some refurbishing and don't know yet when they'll get it done. They may even wait for quotes in order to choose the company they'll hire. In such a case they can't take bookings far in advance without knowing if the villa will be operational.

There are many reasons why they would say that. And explaining the reason might be more troublesome than just plain refusing a booking

Seems a little bit strange, I've been looking at villas for next April/May and have managed to get prices. Perhaps that owner is one to avoid, just in case anything is going on! They might just want to keep their options open but regardless if they don't want your business take it elsewhere. :thumbsup2

We were looking for a villa for next summer and saw one through the dibb, it looks lovely , owner a dibber so gives a discount to dibbers, it's a Tuscan hills and called belle palms, we can't do anything bout it yet for next year till we see flights , so hanging off at the mo. but having emailed the owner several times she seems very nice and helpful, villa get lots of good reviews and looks lovely.owner stays in England too.

We found out the villa owner we rent from is moving to it permanently next year so it will be off the market.

I found another one just round the corner and asked for October 2013 prices and booked it no problem.

There could be 1001 reasons why they aren't taking bookings but it does make you wonder doesn't it?
